Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Remove discussion/talk pages from forum articles

[edit]

I don't think that forum articles (project/content pages), such as Help Forum, Tech, Meta:Babel, and even this noticeboard, should have a discussion (talk) page, as is the case with an article I can't remember now (please let me know if you need me to do so). Michael21107 (talk) 18:31, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don’t see a problem by keeping those, even I'd say talk pages are always needed for these noticeboards. Cause the noticeboards can sometimes be semi-protected for excessive vandalism (see protection logs of this page). 🪶-TΛNBIRUZZΛMΛN (💬) 18:56, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
But when a noticeboard is blocked, doesn't the talk page take the traffic from most of everyone that can't access it? Michael21107 (talk) 14:55, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Michael21107: This is correct. The talk page is frequently used for edit requests if the main forum page needs to be protected. EggRoll97 (talk) 15:52, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean traffic that should, ideally, only be on the forum page. Michael21107 (talk) 10:46, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
The talk page is where to discuss meta-things, such as how to archive the board, what the scope of it is, etc. — xaosflux Talk 16:30, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I understand that, but looking at the three examples I linked, that doesn't seem to be the case. I would at the very least propose a ''official'' notice there, which would properly explain their use. (Only Meta:Babel's talk has some notice, which, however, seems completely ineffective.) Michael21107 (talk) 10:50, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure, go for it, it's a wiki. Project talk-pages are for discussing the project page itself, and for making edit-requests as needed. — xaosflux Talk 13:23, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Do you know about any good templates for it? I'm not confident in creating one, and the only one I know about, Talk, has no effect. Michael21107 (talk) 15:44, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You don't need a custom template, it's just a few pages. You could use {{Tmbox}} as a guide. None of this requires an administrator. — xaosflux Talk 18:15, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Report concerning User:Hackemate66

Hackemate66 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • GUC • CA)Reasons: Vandalism Mathis B (talk) 16:57, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

It seems like this account only had one edit from April 7 (and no other edits). In this case, it is stale. Codename Noreste (talkcontribs) 17:01, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
They also has an edit on Commons that is vandalism as well, I think the account was clearly created to vandalize. Mathis B (talk) 20:34, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Mathis B: I don't see a streak of vandalism though that would constitute a block here. If they continue to vandalize though, please feel free to bring them back here. EggRoll97 (talk) 18:18, 12 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Event organizer for Derek J Moore

[edit]

Global user: Derek J Moore (talkcontribsUser rightsglobal contributionsCentralAuthblock log)

Reason for request: I am attending Wikimania (21-25 July, 2026) in Paris. I would like to make myself available as a Wikipedian who can organising meetings and events to share what I have learned. For this, I need event organiser rights

Criteria met:

Additional information:

I’ve been an ed techie and educator for over 30 years and I have worked in schools, universities, libraries and as a consultant. On Wikidata I speak SPARQL and am increasingly comfortable with GeoJSON and .map files on commons. Although I am not fluent in all of South Africa’s languages, I have been adding templates and modules on vernacular Wikipedia. I’m very excited to be going to be off to Paris in July for Wikimania (on a scholarship).
