@Xaosflux and StevenJ81: A copyedit/style review would be appreciated. Thank you. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:36, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MarcoAurelio: take a look. — xaosflux Talk 18:51, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MarcoAurelio and Xaosflux: Only question I have is this: Is a deflagged bot actually not allowed to operate? Or is it just that they do not operate with the bot flag, and all that entails. I thought it was the second—and if so, "Bots that are deflagged may no longer perform previously approved tasks." would need to be changed. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:30, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@StevenJ81: so I read in to that a bit, but it should be made clear (and this can certainly be improved!) matching with the standard Bot policy this seems that it will only preclude actions "at high speeds or without human supervision" (as these are the actions that require approval and the bot flag). — xaosflux Talk 19:38, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Updated again, take a look. — xaosflux Talk 19:39, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's fine. I wasn't sure if "To reactivate a bot..." shouldn't just be "To reflag a bot...". But actually this wording hints that if the operator wants to start running again, we'd really encourage him/her to ask for bot status. So I'm ok with it as it is. I don't speak English so if you think it's okay, it's surely okay. The wording reflects what's approved on Babel and if it is more readable this way, I'm fine :) I made a list of inactive bots for >= 14 months at User:MarcoAurelio/Sandbox 3. The proposed notification message is also on that page. Please take a look. Thanks, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:16, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Your English is fine, Marco. I made one addition to your notice there, but otherwise it looks fine. StevenJ81 (talk) 13:22, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you StevenJ81. I have notified the operators. We should perhaps think how to integrate this policy into Meta:Bots which was a draft policy I had in mind but that contains much more stuff. For now I though a more narrowly-scoped page would be better. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:23, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

@MarcoAurelio: Seems like you suggested to merge this into Meta:Bots. However, this is an official policy while Meta:Bots is a proposed policy. Suggest pushing Meta:Bots to be an official policy before merging to not over-complicate things. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 11:15, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Minorax: Thank you. I agree with the proposal to oficialise Meta:Bots and have everything in one place. I'll follow-up on Babel. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:50, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merged. --MF-W 12:34, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
