Meta talk:Rewriting/Privacy policy

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Rationale[edit]

I've added information on oversight, made right to vanish generally enforceable, added contact information as per concers here and tried to make it generally more confident-sounding. MaxSem(Han shot first!) 20:31, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts[edit]

I'm satisfied with this proposal. Most of this seems reasonable. One minor point, though: if a user doesn't have a (confirmed) e-mail address specified, judging from this policy, he can contact a sysadmin that would set a new address for him. In reality, I can imagine that this is hardly the case. Some proof of identity needs to be provided and since there are very few sysadmins, this process, albeit not unheard of, doesn't represent the standard protocol, IMO. Hence, I would remove the part where users can complain to the sysadmins. It may still be present in practice, though. It's just that I don't want us to promote such course of action, since it isn't really trivial. --filip 23:48, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
