    This project aims to systematically document and enrich the data of educational institutions across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region on Wikidata. The goal is to create a structured, clean, and accurate dataset that will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, data analysts, and other users. By offering a clearer picture of the educational landscape in each country.

    This first phase of the project will focus on educational institutions in two specific countries, the United Arab Emirates and Sudan. The work will involve documenting approximately 20,000 data items. Each item will include both English and Arabic titles and Descriptions in addition to a minimum of 7 statements and 8 Values.

    Methodology

    The project will follow a four-part methodology to ensure the highest quality of data:

    • Data Collection: Gathering information from reliable and verified sources to identify educational institutions.
    • Data Cleaning: Verifying and correcting the collected data to eliminate inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
    • Data Preparation for QuickStatements v2: Formatting the cleaned data into the required structure for efficient batch uploading.
    • Data Upload: Uploading the prepared data to Wikidata using the QuickStatements v2 tool.

    Timeline

    The project is planned to be completed within a three-month timeframe. A significant portion of the data items will be prepared for upload to coincide with Wikidata's 13th birthday on October 29, 2025.
