Description
[edit]Developing a smart term base to standardize technical and scientific terminology on Arabic Wikipedia. The goal is to transfer the linguistic data from our database into Wikidata's lexicographic extension as well as to Wiktionary, therefore linking our work to Wikimedia projects and extending our impact.
Budget
[edit]- WikiTermBase project budget for the following deliverables:
- 15,000 Wiktionary entries: 15,000 new pages added to Wiktionary with full lexicographic data, word definitions, and Arabic derviations, all supported by reliable sources from strong Arabic language dictionaries.
- 10,000 Wikidata lexemes: 10,000 new Arabic lexemes added to Wikidata with full details of each lexeme, its derivations, links to Wiktionary.
- Augmenting WikiTermBase with Morphosynctact parsing: This advanced linguistic feature will not only greatly enrich Arabic Wiktionary's content by autoamtically linking lexemes to their roots and suffixes, but will also enable automatically adding detailed morphology of every single term in WikiTermBase (+300K Arabic terms right now), making the tool much more useful to users.
- +100 active monthly users of WikiTermBase: Doubling the number of WikiTermBase users, in parternship with the Million Project, to reach over 100, making it among the top 20% of Arabic Wikipedia's most popular tools (the tool is already adopted by 4% of Arabic Wikipedia's active user base and is ranked above 50% of all the tools by number of active users, in spite of being very new).
- Making WikiTermBase a default Arabic Wikipedia tool: By adding new advanced features and contracting a professional full-stack programmer, we will build a robust tool and consistently fix bugs with the goal of making WikiTermBase a new default tool of Arabic Wikipedia, which will be an unprecedented achievement that we would reach in partnership with the Million Project.
