This is a page for Wikimedia Central and Eastern Europe affiliates to nominate a selector for the Movement Charter Drafting Committee set up process.

What is this?[edit]

The Movement Charter will be a foundational document for our movement, detailing how we organize our movement in the future. It's important to get a good group of people representing the wide diversity of our movement and with diverse skillsets to draft the document; 72 candidates have self-nominated to join the Movement Charter Drafting Committee.

Affiliates get to select 6 people on the drafting committee. The Affiliates have been split into eight geographic regions and one thematic group. Each of these 9 groups will appoint 1 "selector" who will work with the other 8 selectors to select candidates for the Movement Charter Drafting Committee.

This page is to decide how the Central and Eastern European affiliates will select the selector. There are 37 affiliates in the region to nominate the selector. The deadline for appointment is October 10, 2021.

Process[edit]

Voting[edit]

  • Open nominations for selectors in the region open from October 7, until October 10, 23:59 (EEST).
    • Any participating person from the region can nominate itself as a selector (staff, board member or volunteer)
    • Any participating person from the region (staff, board member or volunteer) can nominate another person as a selector (staff, board member or volunteer)
  • Affiliates in the region (37 votes in total) will be able to vote for a selector until October 13, 23:59 (EEST).
  • The selector who obtains most of the votes will be elected.

Nominations[edit]

  • Self-nominating as there are no candidates so far. I already represented the region in the Strategy Steering Committee which involved reviewing 172 applications, so I am not afraid of reviewing 72 applications, and I already know how to work with skill and diversity matrices.
