Movement Charter/Drafting Committee/Announcements/Closing membership

The Movement Charter Drafting Committee (MCDC) announces the following decision: Starting from 1 January 2023, only under extraordinary circumstances, defined by the MCDC, will a new member or replacement be allowed. In which case there will be an appointment process designed by the MCDC. There will still be many other opportunities of engagement with the MCDC.

This decision is based on the following reasons:

  • The increasing difficulty for new members to catch up with the rest of the Committee as it reaches advanced stages in drafting. A significant portion of the Movement Charter will be written in the first months of the new year, and it would not be reasonable to revisit this content following that.
  • The high logistical burdens involved in replacing or selecting new members, in onboarding them to the MCDC workflows and in getting them up-to-speed on the drafting process. The MCDC will need to focus more on drafting in order to deliver the Movement Charter according to the timeline.
