NARWHAL across Wiki North America!

A NARWHAL meeting is planned for January 19, 2026 at 9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific.

• NARWHAL = North American Regional Wiki Hub and Lab - It's an informal coalition of North America Wikimedians, mostly organizers, including Mexico, Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean. It's analogous to WALRUS for the U.S.

   1. Scholarship call is now open
   2. Call for session proposals will be open a bit earlier this year (tentatively mid-April until mid-May)
3. Add your event to Wikipedia Day 2026 in January, CentralNotice/Request, Wikipedia 25, Wikipedia 25/Events, Template:Meetup/January 2026, and Events calendar

      1. Canadian 1Lib1Ref contest running from January 15 until February 5
      2. WikiClub Canada virtual kick-off meeting was on Jan 14
      3. Wikipedia Day event in Toronto was on Jan 18
      4. The Queering Wikipedia Conference, organized by Wikimedia LGBT+, may be coming to Montreal (pending successful funding)
      5. WMCA staff are headed to the Ontario Library Association Super Conference in Toronto at the end of January

   7. Do we have a way to share useful scripts? User:Gaurav has created a script to check lists of editors for last edit date so inactive editors can be contacted less frequently.
   8. The NAhub Indigenous North American issues team has a collaboration/conversation hour on some Fridays at 15:00 eastern time. The next one will be on Jan 16
