Nutrition for the Community is a foundational course offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) as part of its Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education (DNHE) program. This course aims to provide comprehensive knowledge on community nutrition, dietary planning, nutritional disorders, and health promotion at the community level. It covers key areas such as macronutrients and micronutrients, meal planning, food safety, nutrition-related disorders, and national nutrition programs.

Community nutrition plays a critical role in public health, particularly in India, where malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and lifestyle-related health issues are prevalent. By educating individuals and communities about proper nutrition, this course empowers them to make informed food choices and adopt healthier lifestyles.
