PUST WikiClub
PUST WikiClub (Bengali: পাবিপ্রবি উইকিক্লাব) is a Wikimedia–oriented club established at Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. It is recognized by Wikimedia Bangladesh. The club is a non-political, non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to the practice and promotion of free knowledge.
Goals and Objectives
- To engage university students in contributing to the Bengali Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
- To engage them to translate academic course-related content from English projects to Bengali projects.
- To promote the concepts of free knowledge, free software, and open culture, and to foster leadership based on these values.
- To enhance students’ understanding of copyright law, copyright, public domain, Creative Commons, and related topics.
- To organize training programs, workshops, seminars, photo walks, edit-a-thons, and other activities centered around Wikimedia projects.
- To provide proper guidance to university students for participating in edit-a-thons and competitions organized in various Wikimedia projects.

# Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons Workshop

- Agenda:
- Introduction to Wikipedia, reliable sources, and basic editing guidelines.
- Training on Wikimedia Commons, free licenses, and proper photo uploading procedures.
- Outcome: Successfully trained 45 participating students (out of 59 registered) on Wikipedia and Commons. Highlighted the importance of contributing, as 91.1% of the attendees had no prior editing experience. Event photos were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: Category:Wikimedia Workshop at PUST, Pabna May 2026.
