PhilWiki Community/Outreach/Wikimedia Photographer Award 2025/Activities
Every year, the PhilWiki Community organizes national competitions on Wikimedia Commons, namely Wiki Loves Folklore, Wiki Loves Earth, and Wiki Loves Monuments, and has also organized other photography contests on Wikimedia Commons, including Wiki Loves Food Philippines, and Wiki Loves Fashion Philippines. It also supports photography walk initiatives, including Wiki Takes Cebu (2024), Wiki Takes Vigan (2024), Wiki Takes Bacolod (2024), and Wiki Takes Puerto Princesa City (2025).
In 2023, the community members and heritage advocates gathered at the WikiCommons Philippines Conference, a 3-day national conference of contributors on Wikimedia Commons held at the Avenue Plaza Hotel in Naga City, Bicol. The conference brought together participants from different Wiki Loves photography contests, photography enthusiasts, and heritage advocates together to strengthen collaboration and better understand the issues faced among the contributors, and to look for solutions.
Next year, the PhilWiki Community and Commons Photographers User Group, will organize the Wikimedia Commons Conference 2026 in Puerto Princesa City.
