The Programs & Events Dashboard has proven itself to be a key tool for many community organizers, including Program Leaders that work in the field of education, GLAM, edit-a-thons, and in Affiliates.

As this tool matures, it has become necessary to make sure that it has the community support it needs. One of the aspects of this is a group of Dashboard Admins that help the community by providing it with basic support when needed.

We are therefore calling for volunteers that want to participate in this field. Their responsibilities cover the following:

  • Providing support to users and Affiliates
  • Monitoring & reporting on the use of the Dashboard

Dashboard Admins, like many other roles in the the Wikimedia community, are required to sign a Non-disclosure Agreement ("NDA") with the Wikimedia Foundation, in order to ensure that data privacy policies are respected by all.

All Admins are required to take a (short) online training on how to be Admins, besides demonstrating knowledge on how to use the Dashboard.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I've been on Wikipedia since 2016. I'm primarily active on English Wikipedia.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I'm comfortable communicating in French and Spanish. I'm not currently active on any other non-English Wikipedias.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I'm the Director of ART+FEMINISM. The Dashboard is critical to our managing and organizing event data from edit-a-thons that take place on all 6 inhabitable continents each year.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

For two years, I've led digital workshops for organizers and new editors using the Dashboard for the first time. In my role, I also lend myself to acting as technical support time during the high traffic season of our campaign.

@McKensie Mack: You should have received an email from me asking for further information so you could sign the NDA - did you not get it? Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 10:16, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Pharos[edit]

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
    • I've been an editor since 2004. I've organized outreach events where something like the Dashboard would have been useful since 2009. I'm an administrator on English Wikipedia and Meta, and was formerly on Commons, where I remain active. I am also active on Wkidata.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
    • I am only comfortable communicating in English, but I have passing knowledge of French and could help administer some of those events if needed (possibly could help in a couple of other languages as well).
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
    • I am on the board of Wikimedia NYC (formerly president), and have historically helped administer events for that, Art+Feminism, and a number of other regional/national/international campaigns.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
    • I had been one of the initial admins of the Dashboard when it was first created until recently, and helped administer numerous events for Wikimedia NYC, Art+Feminism, and beyond.--Pharos (talk) 14:24, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
