Proposal
[edit]In my opinion, Cheyenne Wikipedia should be closed.
It contains no meaningful content, all pages are one-sentence long (or olny contain files or translations), except from ones which were expanded or created by Languages309, who made a lot of contributions into projects in languages he don't speak: if to exclude his additions, an enormously big gallery will be the largest article.
Pages seem to contain non-translated English elements (chy:Sweden, chy:Tsėhésenėstsestȯtse[1]) wrong language (this one is in Sesotho, 3 years old) and math syntax[1] (!) instead of Cheyenne.
Mostly nothing changed from the first proposal (image-only pages still are image only pages, wordlists are wordlists, and single "legitimate article" even was deleted). There are only 789 actual speakers in the USA[2]. Only one user, Wleman, claimed to be a person with Cheyenne knowledge.
No policies or guide pages were translated. There were no administrators ore bureacrats since creation. No interface translation was made, except of "mainpage" (actually means "hello!") and "talk/discussion".
No legitimate content was produced since creation in 2004, so this wiki should be closed and emptied without importing, as in Pitkern, Northern Luri and Nauru cases. Таёжный лес (talk) 23:07, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Support
[edit]- Support Same case as all recent native language Wikipedia closures. Close it.--~2025-38627-68 (talk) 00:44, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- I took note of this project for a long time. Although being one of the oldest-existing projects in a minority language, it is still poorly developed and is not effective as a source of meaningful encyclopedic information. I hardly believe it was ever edited by a native speaker. Better move it to the WM Incubator, maybe just for a 'tribute purpose' -- it would be awkward to remove completely the Wikipedia existing since 2004. --Wolverène (talk) 12:04, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Support At the point where looking at Chinese Wikipedia while not knowing any Chinese gives more information than your native wiki, closure would be smart. Bitterbutter (talk) 16:20, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Recently closed kl-wiki and cr-wiki also were created in 2004 and had a non-trivial amount of (speakers-created!) content, but were completely nuked by MF-Warburg at closing. Таёжный лес (talk) 17:27, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Well, I hope he justified it at least somehow. --Wolverène (talk) 09:40, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
Reviewing the main space content, I have decided that nothing should be imported to Incubator. There is nothing that could not easily be recreated or be done in a better way by native speakers

Reviewing the main space content and consulting with Kenneth Wehr, I have decided that nothing should be imported to Incubator. There is nothing that could not easily be recreated or be done in a better way by native speakers.

Таёжный лес (talk) 19:28, 12 December 2025 (UTC)- How do you know there had been a non-trivial amount of speakers-created content? What speakers? -- MF-W 22:20, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- I won't answer your questions. Таёжный лес (talk) 13:50, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Oppose
[edit]Weak Oppose Can you give me the content of the deleted content? Also the "math syntax" only have the plus sign "+" and the equal sign "=". User:Phudeptrai47540370870
- Specially for that I made an archived version. Таёжный лес (talk) 15:52, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Weak oppose largely on a political basis. I think this wiki absolutely should be closed as it currently looks. But I think so many North American native language wikipedias have been closed (Cree, Greenlandic) are almost certainly closing (Iñupiaq) or have been proposed for closure (Navajo) that a bunch of people who aren’t familiar with the language at hand deleting one of the oldest in one of the most endangered of these languages is a bad look. Maybe give it a few years as a last chance and delete it if it hasn’t reached even a barely passable state. In the meantime it can easily be policed for egregious content violations (like articles in the wrong language) even by people with no knowledge of the language itself. --Dronebogus (talk) 06:25, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]- According to this query, the project had two temporary admins: @Johannes Rohr and @Amqui. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 02:07, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, forgot about that. Thanks! Although, they were only in 2007 and 2012–2013 respectively. Таёжный лес (talk) 04:18, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
