Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes. We successfully met the project’s main objectives and are satisfied with how it was implemented. The project documented Sokoto’s natural heritage through Wiki Loves Earth by organizing a photo walk, training participants on Wikimedia Commons, and encouraging the upload of freely licensed images of important natural and cultural sites. Participants actively engaged in the activities, produced valuable photographs, and contributed new content that helps improve Wikimedia Commons and supports Wikipedia articles. Overall, the project increased awareness of open knowledge, strengthened local participation in Wikimedia, and created a strong foundation for future Wiki Loves Earth activities in Sokoto.

What worked well?

The project was successful in Sokoto, with active participation and quality photographs of the state’s natural heritage uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. It also raised awareness of Wiki Loves Earth and encouraged participants to continue contributing to Wikimedia projects.

What did not work so well?

Some planned natural heritage sites in Sokoto could not be covered due to time and logistical constraints. However, these challenges did not prevent the successful completion of the project.

What would you do differently next time?

Next time, we will allocate more time for field documentation, improve transportation planning, and involve more local volunteers to cover additional natural heritage sites across Sokoto.
