Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Despite extensive publicity and engagement efforts in Kwara State, including collaboration with the state Coordinator and STEM instructors, the project attracted 18 new participants, falling short of the target. Prior to the physical training, participants were engaged in a series of online sessions to prepare them for contributing to the initiative. I was not happy with the outcome of the project.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
| Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
| Number of new editors 28 | 18 | We were unable to meet the target of 28 due to the fact that most participants traveled and are not available in Ilorin at that moment and they could not join the online session |
| No of articles Edited 50 | 07 articles edited | During the training session online we did the Wikipedia Training and the physical training was Wikidata so that cause the limitation of the no of Wikipedia edits during the project. |
| Number of of Wikidata Items Created or Improved 150 | 139 Items edited |
Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Sustaining a partnership with the W.TEC Kwara Was quite easy with the state Coordinator and also reaching out to the Participants was quite easy using that partnership sustained.
- What did not work so well?
Keeping the Instructors motivated to continue to edit after the physical event it was quite tiring because they are kind of use to physical trainings than the online and when reached out personally most issue was it was not really interesting to them like them building an app or Web development that they are used to, only a few were self motivated to continue after the physical event.
- What would you do differently next time?
The training wont be limited to only the stem instructors alone but other participants outside the Stem Instructors that way we will be able to meet our target and more, and there will be more physical training.
