Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Certain goals like items to be added were met, and we onboarded new editors. So overall I’m satisfied with the outcomes and as well excited about future possibilities.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
10 | 7 | Number of new editors.
7 new contributors were registered. |
50 | 105 | Number of items created.
The number of items created was double its target with contributions from 11 participants. I'm glad we met the quality guidelines and successfully created new items. |
50 | 129 | Add/improve item. The training was good and new and old editors learned to use Wikidata. |
1 | 1 | Training event.
The training session was held on the proposed date followed by a 2 week contest. |

Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The training session: The facilitator was great, and the training was successful as we saw a new editor claiming the 2nd prize with a decent amount of edits.
New Editors: With just 3 short of our target, we got a good response from new students invited, with some promising to invite colleagues to the next training.
Prizes for top editors: One of the reasons the edit and creation of items goal was successful can be attributed to the cash prizes attached and the prizes were awarded based on the total amount of edits not just the position occupied in the top four.
- What did not work so well?
We didn't meet our target for expected participants.
- What would you do differently next time?
The timing of the event collided with a yearly event in school that was brought backward so next time I would have to do more research before picking a date.

Anything else?
[edit]Anything else you want to share about your project?
The Enhancing Wikidata with UNIPORT Student project helped close the gap in our community data available on Wikidata.
Several towns, communities, and villages in Rivers state without an item on Wikidata go one, this would enable people interested in places in this region to get more information.
