Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? For the Wikipedia Awareness and Training at Minna project, several elements likely contributed to its success: effective engagement with the local community, setting clear goals that kept the project focused, hands-on training that made learning practical and engaging, partnerships with local institutions that added credibility and interest, and strong support from the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group, which provided resources and guidance. Together, these factors created a solid foundation for a successful and impactful project.

  • What did not work so well?

some areas may have encountered challenges. Limited community reach could have affected participation, while technical issues like internet connectivity might have disrupted hands-on training. Time constraints may have limited the depth of content covered, and resource gaps, such as insufficient materials, could have impacted effectiveness. Additionally, maintaining engagement with participants after the training may have been difficult, potentially reducing the project’s long-term impact.

  • What would you do differently next time? For the next Wikipedia Awareness and Training at Minna project, a few adjustments could improve its success. Expanding outreach efforts could boost participation, while ensuring reliable internet and sufficient devices would support smooth, hands-on training. Extending the training duration would allow for deeper exploration of topics and more practice time. Providing additional materials and tools would enhance learning, and implementing a follow-up plan, like post-training workshops or an online support group, could encourage ongoing participation. These steps would likely strengthen the project’s reach, effectiveness, and lasting impact.
