Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? We achieved our goals for the project with the photo walk and physical training and we are happy about the results and outcome. As our participants understood and learnt something new about the tradition and culture of the Esie people through the Wiki loves Monument campaign
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
2 events | 2 physical events | we had two physical events. Training session and photo walk session. |
30 participants | 24 participants | we have 24 total participants attend the physical session and photo walk session and not all engage in the edit-a-thon contest |
150 photos to be uploaded | 117 photos tracked but over 150 photos were uploaded | 117 photos were tracked by the outreach dashboard which is below the campaign goal which is due to the issue of the dashboard and participants uploading photos without joining the dashboard first. |
outreach dashboard | outreach dashboard was used to track the contribution of the contest. | https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/Wikimedia_fan_club_Unilorin/Wiki_Loves_Monument_2024_Kwara/ |
Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The participants turn out was great, during the physical event and the photo walk. It was a great experience for everyone as we learnt about the history behind the Esie Museum and how the esie town was discovered. It was an amazing experience as participants were fully engaged and were able to learn how to upload photos on wikimedia commons.
- What did not work so well?
The tracking of the outreach dashboard was poor and the contribution spirit dropped. The outcome of our monumental photo walk could not be uploaded by our participants as the dashboard experience system error. A lot of our participants contributed with joining the dashboard therefore reducing the number of photos uploaded by participants.
The planned budget were affected by over price of current commodity. Especially the transportation sector and refreshments
- What would you do differently next time?
Outreach dashboard: We hope to ensure that we can build up the full participation spirit in our community members to be able to contribute and for it to be tracked by the dashboard. Laying emphasis on the importance of the dashboard tracking to the edit-a-thon contest.
Finances: we don’t really have full control over this but we will try to make sure we do not affect the budget of other things again hoping for a stable price in commodity.
