Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  • The project execution was seamless, with all logistical arrangements efficiently handled. This smooth process ensured that the event proceeded without significant delays or disruptions.
  • What did not work so well?
  • Some of the new editors faced challenges when their Wikipedia accounts were blocked, preventing them from contributing to pages as planned. Despite attempts to recover the accounts, the issue remained unresolved. Additionally, several registered participants were unable to attend the physical event due to scheduling conflicts with their semester exams at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as the event coincided with their exam season.
  • What would you do differently next time?
  • For future projects, I would ensure that new editors are registered well in advance. I would also encourage them to start engaging with the necessary Wikimedia platforms early on, learning the basics before the program begins. This proactive approach would help identify and address any potential challenges ahead of time, ensuring smoother participation.

Anything else?

[edit]

Anything else you want to share about your project?

In summary, the project was successfully executed with smooth logistics. However, some challenges arose, including blocked Wikipedia accounts for new editors and a scheduling conflict for some participants due to exams at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. For future projects, early registration and engagement with Wikimedia platforms would be prioritized to prevent similar issues and ensure better preparedness.
