Requests for comment/Limit creation of Wikipedia, etc. in minor languages

The following request for comments is closed. GRfC policy requires GRfCs that affect one/few parties to be announced on-wiki to those parties (in this case, at the very least, LangCom is an affected party). Statement of the issue[edit]

Wikipedia, etc. are to let all people obtain knowledge equally etc., not to protect languages. We should limit creation of Wikipedia, etc. (except Wikisource, which is necessary for articles in minor languages) in minor languages since most of the speakers of minor languages, especially those who can access Internet, know at least one existing language in Wikis very well.--John Smith Ri (talk) 14:33, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • The RFC policy requires that parties concerned by an RFC should be notified. I think this RFC concerns at least the Language Committee and the active editors of Incubator and BetaWikiversity. Unless the creator still intends to notify them, this RFC should be procedurally closed. That said, I predict the RFC will not attract much support, if any.
