Arguments in favour[edit]

  • A specific subdomain would make more easier to link the news and the Wikipedia articles (and his news section), and it would help to integrate the Esperanto projects (we also have specifics Wiktionary, Wikiquote, and Wikibooks, and a request for Wikisource). CasteloBrancomsg 15:58, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think that we must create an Esperanto version of Wikinews, becuase it could improve the other sister project and because there're no Esperanto network which collects news in Esperanto. So we could be the first one that creates articles in Esperanto. --Airon90 14:02, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Support: Me too, I think Esperanto language would have a proper News network. And I would be very happy If it could be as an Esperanto Wikinews project.
  • Support Support: Wikipedia Esperanto has been a success. A news wiki would be another success in promoting this language. Kanzler31 22:16, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arguments against[edit]

  • There are not people who can drive a community. Esperanto has got Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikibooks and Wikiquote. The first two project seems to work, the other two not. I think that before opening a new project we should create a community, in order not to abandon the project to noone. --→ Airon Ĉ 21:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other discussion[edit]

Approval questionnaire[edit]

(I don't know where this is to be discussed, feel free to move it) --AVRS 11:35, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't like "Vikinovaĵoj diskuto" (it is not a meaningful phrase if you treat "Vikinovaĵoj" as an Esperanto noun, despite its sometimes inconvenient plurality), but I guess it will be easy enough to change later (have to watch out for links in advance though). Something like "Vikinovaĵa diskuto"? --AVRS 11:44, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That logo is in English. Is its source commons:File:WikiNews-Logo-en.svg? I'll try making a translated version now, but I have no design capabilities. --AVRS 11:35, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, it says "This is not the same as official png version" (and I asked because it actually looked differently…). Anyway, here it is: File:WikiNews-Logo-eo-AVRS-155.png (155x115; the vector version: File:WikiNews-Logo-eo-AVRS.svg). --AVRS 13:35, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Or should it really be 135px wide (thought it would have to be horizontal…)? Changed it to that. --AVRS 14:26, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about not checking: the vector version actually looks very different from the proposed raster English version at equal size. --AVRS 14:26, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Both logo and namespace can be change in the future, after we talk in the project. Many projects use the english logo (see de.wn, for instance). And the namespace is the same as Wikibooks, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. So, they are natural choices for the beginning. We have time to discuss the changes and other alternatives. To create a eo-logo would be very nice, but will dispend some time. CasteloBrancomsg 16:21, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Language committee has been approved Wikinews in Esperanto and while we are waiting 4-7 days for Board to give the final word, please fill the next questionnaire:

  • Project name ("Wikinews" in native language):
