Persian is widely spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and to some extent in Armenia, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Bahrain, and Oman. Persian is today mostly written in Perso-Arabic script, but it can also be written in Latin and Roman script and in that form it's easier to read. This project is about writing Iranian Persian in Latin script and writing Persian language by Latin alphabet in general.

Arguments against[edit]

  • pes is already in use; it's a synonym for fa. We don't open up new wikis for a script difference; in cases where it's necessary, there are transliterators enabling one wiki to be biscriptal. One could be installed on fa.WP if there's user demand.--Prosfilaes 15:27, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wikipedia is based on current facts, and not innovations. Almost "ALL" people in Iran and Afghanistan use the Perso-Arabic script to write Persian. Innovations are good, but not for the use in wikipedia. My opinion is that there is no need for this wiki. --Wayiran 00:32, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • First, "Iranian Persian" is not clearly defined. As we already have a Persian wiki (most edits from Iran) there is not need for a wiki in this dialect. Second, the link to "Iranian Persian" links to a article that is clearly unrelated. 3rd, as Latin scripts are not official in any region where Persian is spoken, a Latin script Persian wiki is not needed. Other discussion[edit]

The link goes to the article about C language, and there is no article on Iranian Persian. Is it really a Wikipedia in C language? — NickK 09:41, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
