Administrator access

Arabic Wikinews

I request sysop access for n:ar:User:OsamaK. I am the only active local sysop in the site currently. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to be a sysop. Please grant him permenant sysop access and revoke mine. (I will request desysoping of myself in the section below.) We (I and him) are the only active editors, so, elections will make no sense. A permenant sysop is needed to delete any page that was created as vandalism.

Thank you. --Meno25 02:11, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Belorussian Normative Wikipedia

Hi! Belorussian Normative Wikipedia has recently opened and need an admin for proper work of the wiki. The local community, which had worked in the Incubator, already have made elections and proposed three members for admins: elections. They are:be:User:Yury Tarasievich, be:User:Yaroslav Zolotaryov, be:User:Mienski. We need at least one admin as soon as possible, because the Wiki is big and can not work properly without any adminship --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Opposition to this wiki already has began vandal actions in the wiki, so we need any admin urgently. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

For what I can read in be:Вікіпэдыя:Суполка, elections begun today. It's common practice to allow at least 7 days for voting. --Paginazero - Ø 14:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
All three made temporary sysops until they are (eventually) elected. If some of them doesn't get elected, the status will be removed in a week. Jon Harald Søby 14:49, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

I request sysop access on Belorussian wikipedia for be:User:Yury Tarasievich, be:User:Yaroslav Zolotaryov, be:User:Mienski, be:User:MaximLitvin. They were elected by local community after a week of discussion and voting: [1]

--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Comment: note the amount of votes discarded by... Yaroslav Zolotaryov. On his own RFA... Among others... MaxSem 10:00, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Just because I was responsible for the counting and this is definitely votes without contributions. They was discarded in my RFA just like in other's RFA. Big amount of such a votes is result of flashmob from newly created accounts of ruwiki users, who do not know Belorussian at all --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 10:20, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Yaroslav Zolotaryov has not 100 non mior edits in main-namespace (including admin function) too, but he voted and elected. He used his temporaly admin flag to fighting with opponents. --Morpheios Melas 09:34, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
He removed many votes contra himself, then wrote in allection page "Total 4 support, 2 oppose, candidate is elected." about himself, and protect voting page. But in this case 4 sopport is not more than 2/3 of voters HE IS NOT ELECTED!!! --Morpheios Melas 09:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
And the opponents were not from Belorussian wikipedia at all. We use 1/2 majority rule, the voters are not many all the same. About my possibility to participate in elections it was common decision of the local community. As to 2 votes against, they do not have the 100 contribs before elections - Astap has 51 non-minor edits [2], Redline has 29 non-minor edits [3], before beginning of the vote. So actually I have no opposition except newly created accounts from ruwiki. I choose do not delete Astap and Redline simply because I like them and do not want to hurt them by deletion. But according to the rules you proclaim I have no opposition at all--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
So not only I do not use admin flag against opposition, but I even count some votes against me when they are really illegal. In contrast, you and your friend choose to flahmb in other wikipedia, making newly created accounts, when you do not know even a word in Belorussian, and never contributed to the wiki, but you specially came just to fight in the vote, which you yourself acknowledge speaking with Tarasievich in bewiki.--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 10:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes i forgot this. Yaroslav always change rules of elections. In begin there are no any rules. When he became lose elections was inserted rule about 100 non-minor edits in main-namespace of incubator:Wb\be\. Now after we count his edits and votes was counted he want change rules again. --Morpheios Melas 10:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC) 1/2 majority rule was not annonced before Yaroslav became lose election. --Morpheios Melas 10:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
In begin it was a general rule - users of other wiki are not allowed to vote in this wiki, you have made flashmob, then we have made this rule more accurate (100 contribs or previous admin status - please remember you speaking with Tarasievich, who said to you "all the same Yaroslav was previously admin and we trust him"). If I would applicate the 100 contribs rule preciously, I would have 100%, but I choose do not delete Astap and Redline. Please count all my contributions in Incubator wiki, not only in main space - check log of blocked users by me in Incubator, log of deleted articles - the amount will be around 100 in general. I do not want to be admin very much, but your holy war to take power on Belorussians seems very bad for me. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes i count renames, deleting total with non moinor edits its about 90 heh! :) But deleting is not counted anywere. --Morpheios Melas 11:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
But I have blocked tens of vandals, so all is ok even from formal POV.--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:15, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
And I have more general question - what do the Russians do in Belorussian elections? Let this thing will be decided by Belorussians--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:56, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
You not belarussian too. You cannt speak belarusian. --Morpheios Melas 10:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Ha-ha, tell this stories to somebody else, but not to Belorussians--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Anyone belarusian can confirm this story. :) --Morpheios Melas 11:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
  • In fact, I, as a native Belarusian speaker, was surprised that Yaroslav Zolotaryov not only understands spoken (written) Belarusian, which was known to me before, but actually also speaks (writes) quite advanced Belarusian. Yury Tarasievich 11:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
My grandfather was Belorussian, exiled to Siberia, and he teach me Belorussian in my childhood. But it was a Western Belorussian dialect (from Hrodna), so I can sometimes make errors in standard Belorussian. I hope it can be corrected with your help in several months. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Conmment: Zolotaryov applies the double standards using a temporary flag sysop, threatening blocking, protecting page, and crossing out votes against the competitors, Motivered by the unsufficient contribution both at voting, and at the deleted competitors at choices. And ITSELF THUS THERE IS NO SUFFICIENT CONTRIBUTION EVEN FOR VOTING.--Afinogenoff 23:09, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
And all this competitors were from Russian wikipedia, not from Belorussian one. After your flashmob began, Mienski and me alerted you several times that those votes will not be counted - we discussed this with you in the voting page, in your talk page. Instead of writing articles in your own Russian wikipedia, you did not stop the holy war, but begin to "vote" against Mienski, Tarasievich, so you wanted to have only one "Belorussian" admin Afinogenoff, who came from ruwiki and do not know Belorussian at all. Your attempts to write in "Belorussian" were so ridiculious that Belorussian LJ is still full of funny stories about a Russian who wanted to be a Belorussian admin (with quotations). So we have chosen protect the voting page and strike out votes without contributions instead of ban the 15 Russians, which would be worse. I was responsible for the action by direct command from Tarasievich and with consent from Mienski. I did not use double standards, but also have striken out several ones from my supporters (all of them were native Belorussians, but had not enough contributions). Besides that, I have left two of my opposers, who actually have not enough contributions too, just to avoid double-standarding and to left some opposition. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 00:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Not done This page is not for discussion. Please come back when votes and results are done. --Dbl2010 03:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Uyghur Wikipedia

I request sysop access for User:Barat on Uyghur Wikipedia. He is a native Uyghur and has been an active contributor on Uyghur Wikipedia.

Thankyou very much. --Jose77 22:33, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Not done Don't request without following the rules. You made your request the 29 (not a week has even passed) and so far only you have supported the candidate. drini [es:] [commons:] 22:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
That is because there is no Uyghur community on Uyghur Wikipedia; hence there is no one else to support him. Also, many of his friends living in China have told him that they were unable to access Uyghur Wikipedia. User:Barat is the only Uyghur contributor there. --Jose77 23:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
If the wiki is inactive, then a temporary sysophood should be granted. MOreover, he hasn't even confirmed he'd like to be a sysop, you just nominated him 3 days ago and informed him yesterday. It's the second time you nominate ombodu for uyghur wikipedia in a month, quite a lot for an inactive wiki is it?
Moreover, in the last 500 changes in the past 30 days are just 20 edits from Barat (other than you and bots). So what's the urgency? wait the full week and nominate again. But if the wiki is really that inactive, then you I suggest you to nominatie him for a temporary sysophood (btw, your's is about to expire this week). drini [es:] [commons:] 00:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I will wait patiently for a week or several weeks if necessary. --Jose77 00:36, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I request sysop access for tg:User:Tolib. The request has only been a few days, but seeing as he has 4/5 support votes out of 5 regular users (he is the 5th), I think its a done deal. If you want to wait a few days, I understand, but this really isn't going to get any more votes :)

Thanks in advance! - FrancisTyers 08:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Waiting until 19 April 2007 (one week since nomination). This ensures that everyone has the chance to have their say, since we do not know enough about the community to decide whether the users who have voted thus far are representative. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:03:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

Bambara, Fulfulde and Wolof Wikipedia

I'm requesting bureaucrat status on these Wikipedias. I want to give bots bot status to make it easier to check the recent changes. I've been (the only) administrator on these Wikipedias since 2005 and there haven't been any complaints. I'm actively involved in the afrophonewikis list and there has been some (but not awesome) progress with these Wikipedias, especially the Wolof one. Guaka 14:02, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Please organize a vote on the wiki's mentionned, to let the community be able to approve or deny your request. Effeietsanders 14:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I created one for the Wolof Wikipedia, which has the biggest community. I will copy it to ff and bm if it's okay. What do you think?
I would also be happy if a steward could mark all the bots as bots. That would make it a lot easier to maintain these Wikipedias. Guaka 04:32, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Once bureaucrat, you can create the botbits yourself. Otherwise, the procedure is describerd here. There is also the request page. Effeietsanders 15:53, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
6 votes pro, 0 contra, is that good enough? :) Guaka 06:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I do not wish to move request back here, but now this user blocked me second time here for "hurting his feelings". This not fair, he accused me of being terrorist, erased evidence of such accusation without apology (but it still can find here), tells me my origin without knowing. I never accuse him of being terrorist, just of poorly administrator. Here I emphasise: user does not speak Uyghur according to own statement, and user was appointed administrator here without election. For this out-of-process block I request immediate desysopment.--توشقا 22:12, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Belorussian Normative Wikipedia

be:User:Yury Tarasievich, be:User:Yaroslav Zolotaryov, be:User:Mienski requested adminship when elections were still going on and they got temporary adminships until vote is over. However during elections, there were unfair actions.

  1. Some votes are deleted because they considered invalid. However this cannot be done without having a voting policy.
  2. This votes are canceled by some nominees himself, which is unethical.
  3. Again during votings going on, vote page is locked by one of the nominees who is temporary sysop.
  4. One or more nominees, pointed out to community that he/they have power to block. So this may caused unknown impact to elections and not ethical.

So in my opinion this elections was not fair enough. Belorussian community should first work on election process. And during this time a temp sysop may be chosen by community to take care of cleanings. Or maybe not, if same thing may occur again. During elections, nominees should stay still they should not touch to voters or election page.

Because JHS is away for vacation, I revoke all the 3 temp sysops given. And wait a fair elections. I believe this is best for Belorussian Normative wikipedia community. And please no discussion on this page! --Dbl2010 18:39, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

I request sysop access.

The site is virtually empty now and I may not have much time to spend there but I would visit it occassionally and I would clean it, keep an eye on possible vandalism and build some infrastucture, tools and basic content there as a help for future contributors unacquainted with wikis and/or wiktionaries. I am an administrator in es.wikt (wikt:es:Usuario:Piolinfax) and in nah.wikt (wikt:nah:Usuario:Piolinfax). Thanx --Piolinfax (@es.wikt) 14:10, 18 February 2007 (UTC) 13:43, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

You seem to be describing long-term goals, which suggests you mean to require permanent adminship — although you don't need administrator access to do most of what you've described in a non-urgent situation. In order to be granted temporary access, you need to point out a present, urgent need for you to hold the status; and propose a duration for it. If you want permanent adminship on this project, you need to gain consensus locally; we cannot grant permanent status where no community exists or where the community has not approved of the user's status. Redux 13:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I did not signed properly earlier. Well, I do not intend to be a permanent admin there, just to leave some easy paths for future contributors. The problem about gathering consensus is this: currently there is no community in mn.wikt yet. Maybe I will ask for support in mn.wikipedia. Thanks anyway  :) --Piolinfax (@es.wikt) 14:10, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Temporary adminship is meant to be granted to address urgent situations in projects without local administrators or where the existing admins are all inactive. If you want to start building a basic infrastructure of project-space pages, for instance, you don't need administrator tools for that. A few examples in which temporary adminship can be granted: a) there is spam or vandalism that needs to addressed (deleting inappropriate pages created by vandals, trolls and spammers, for instance); b) you need to edit the MediaWiki interface for the project (only admins can edit MediaWiki pages); c) certain, specific cleanup tasks that require admin tools, such as cleaning up redirect messes left by unexperienced users or even vandals. In all of those cases, adminship is granted only for a limited period of time, and it's usually for a few days only. Redux 13:43, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Fortunately this is not an urgent situation but what I was thinking of is cleaning this (not much, I know) and especially inserting an edittools file, most likely the one in en.wikt, because sometimes it is quite hard for me keeping the Cyrillic alphabet at hand. If I had about 48 or 72 hours (preferably during a weekend; it is then when my connection is more reliable) I could do that with plenty of time. Thanx once again, Redux :) Piolinfax (@es.wikt) 15:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Swahili Wiktionary

I request sysop access.

There is no local sysop: Dubaduba hasn't been seen for a while ;-). Need to monitor for spam like the w/index.php stuff we are getting another round of. I could do some interface translation as well; I live in Nairobi; I'm not fluent in Swahili, but my house runs on it (I have a two-year old nephew that speaks Swahili better than I ...) Robert Ullmann 12:43, 24 January 2007 (UTC) (en.wikt sysop, rw.wikt sysop)

Done (after fixing your links to local pages). Approved for three months, prior to that, try to grow the project and get a community consensus to continue. Bastique 15:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about the links, missed that. Okay, but there is no one else here ;-). By all means if I can gin up some interest. Tx, Robert Ullmann 15:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Interlingue Wikipedia

I request a couple of days of sysop access to handle the current deletion backlog. The wiki has two admins, but Jmb hasn't edited since November last year, and Dana hasn't edited in over two years.

Igbo Wikipedia

I request sysop access.

Vandalism and spam are piling up. I'm an admin on en and have been a temporary admin on ig before, in fact. Maybe a month instead of a week this time? (It will do no harm.) Thank you. Picaroon 21:49, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Done 2 months, keep it clean. Expires June 27. drini [es:] [commons:] 21:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

I understand if you feel the need to decline this, but I would like to request the sysop bit on the Navajo Wikipedia. Despite the fact that I don't speak a word of the language, and don't even have an account there yet, I feel there is probably quite a bit of sysop work that I can do there. It was this that inspired me to request this. I would block users like that, protect a few important pages like nv:Íiyisíí Naaltsoos, which is clearly the Main Page, and do other general sysop work that doesn't require me knowing the language. If you are unwilling to grant permenant sysopship, please consider temporary access instead.

Thank you. --Deskana 14:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

This project has two sysops, Jmerkey and Node ue. Both are generally not from this project and are not active enough. I'm sure that anothr temp admin is appropriate, but I'd like opinions from another steward. MaxSem 15:18, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
I would appreciate permenant sysopship if possible. Is this not possible? --Deskana 15:46, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Sure it wouldn't hurt to ask the (semiactive) community there? stewards dont' decide, remember? drini [es:] [commons:] 04:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, only problem is I don't speak a word of the language. --Deskana 11:37, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Make the request in english, most people there do know english. drini [es:] [commons:] 14:22, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I tried finding some sort of noticeboard but I can't find anything. I posted a request on the talk page of the main page. --Deskana 18:01, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Deskana, have you tried nv:Wikiibíídiiya:Community Portal ? drini [es:] [commons:] 18:29, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
No wonder Prefixindex didn't work, I was in the wrong namespace. I'll post a link there, thanks. --Deskana 01:02, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

The request has now been up 9 days on this Wikipedia. Can I be granted sysopship or not? --Deskana 09:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Done. MaxSem 10:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. --Deskana 10:31, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Changing username from Zanatic to Honza Záruba

I would like to change my user name from Zanatic to my real name Honza Záruba even here on meta. I posted this request which included changing username on cs.wikt before but it was archived before fulfilling or even answering. Thanks. Zanatic 17:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Done I was waiting for some crat to do it, but days passed and nobody showed up. So I went ahead and did it. drini [es:] [commons:] 02:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Where? On the English Wikipedia? It has local bureaucrats, you can add a request in en:WP:CHU. Anyway, I see there accounts have been blocked there... --.anaconda 23:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
