Information may be incomplete and may change before the project starts.

In this project we develop techniques for matching red links of Wikipedia either to already existent pages in the same Wikipedia edition or to corresponding articles in other languages. Such matching would make the process of filling the gaps in Wikipedia more effective by revealing missed connections between articles and allowing contributors to translate the existing page that corresponds to a red link rather than writing a whole text from scratch.

## Baseline

Matching red link titles to existent Wikipedia pages to some extent may be solved using BabelNet knowledge base. That was our hypothesis which we checked for red links from English Wikipedia matching them with correspondent pages in Ukrainian edition.

A sample of 3593 red links from English Wikipedia was taken which are marked at least in 5 pages which have links to Ukrainian pages.

### Results:

1. Number of red links for which correct correspondences were found: 231 of 525 existent correspondences (44 % recall);
2. Number of red links for which found correspondences were correct: 231 of 261 found correspondences (89 % precision);
3. General evaluation in terms of F1 score: ${\displaystyle 2\times {\frac {precision\times recall}{precision+recall}}}$= 59 %.
