Research talk:Spring 2015 Inspire campaign/Survey

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

I didn't notice the survey, so I'll just write something here: I felt the Inspire Campaign was mired in a sort of foolish feminism which distracted the participants from the stated goal: more women. There were all sorts of proposals for things which were pro-feminist (like more coverage of women in science), rather than pro-female participation. The idea that these proposals were aside the point didn't seem to have occurred to people. Similarly, a proposal for simplifying the citation process was attacked as assuming women are too stupid to use the existing process, or something. I would have liked to see more of an attitude of "Let's see if that will bring in more women," and more effort on the part of the campaign organizers to inculcate this attitude.

I mean that way, when you ultimately fail to bring in more women, you can at least say credibly that you tried. Dingsuntil (talk) 22:04, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
