Hello @SEgt-WMF,

I am deeply interested in your research work and what will come out of it. As a French Wikipedia contributor, it would like to give you some explanation about why some domains are cited a lot on our wiki :

  • wikiwix.com is an archive website that automatically archives all external links added to French Wikipedia. These archives are then automatically displayed next to each external link using a gadget activated by default. Since these links are automatically added via JavaScript, they are not included in your dataset. However, as they appear alongside each link, users often replace broken links with a Wikiwix archive. See fr:Aide:Liens archives and pages mentioned in its "See also" for more details (I assume you are able to translate that page using your browser).
  • insee.fr, eaufrance.fr, meteofrance.com, elections.interieur.gouv.fr, inpn.mnhn.fr, georisques.gouv.fr, inao.gouv.fr, data.gouv.fr, developpement-durable.gouv.fr, agriculture.gouv.fr, irsn.fr and other official french websites where massiveley added on all pages of french towns and cities like fr:Heudreville-en-Lieuvin by a bot: fr:User:Roland45-Bot which automatically generated text from basic information (demographic data, climate data, geographic data) about these cities using data from these websites. Details are available at fr:Projet:Communes de France/Système d'information territorial/Bots. This bot was subsequently blocked after its creator’s main account was blocked for repeated copyright violations (violations that lead to this block may be unrelated to these massive edits).
  • ssd.jpl.nasa.gov and minorplanetcenter.net have also been massively added by bots fr:User:Gallicbot and Roland45-Bot on minor planets pages like fr:(16635) 1993 QO. See fr:Projet:Astronomie/Planètes mineures 2018 for the Roland45-Bot project page.

Additionally, it seems that data from Wikipedia Enterprise is only about links inside <ref> tags. This approach overlooks all references generated by en:Template:Sfn and en:Template:Harvsp. These templates—used across most wikipedias—produce citations that refer to a specific page or chapter within a work listed in the article’s “Bibliography” section. I think the current approach is fine as there would be other issues if the search were not limited to ref tags, but it is worth noting.
