Research talk:Wikistats metrics/Top editors

Why is about a specific month? How can you see top editors of all time? Xaris333 (talk) 18:10, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Xaris333, for the English Wikipedia, there is this list which is updated daily. It gives the Top 5000 editors but a) some of the editors are now inactive either through retirement or because they have been blocked and b) editors can choose not to be listed. @Liz: I am interesting about el.wikipedia. Xaris333 (talk) 22:26, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The problem of the limitation to one month[edit]

Contrary to the old pages, the current wikistats only gives me the current editors. I am analysing the smaller Wikipedia editions, editions where (I suspect that) the lion's share of the text is written by a small number of editors, or where it at least is possible to see the profile of the text as a whole by looking at all editions. Since the traffic on these editions are small, there should be no computational problems involved in giving these data. This is for me actually the singlemost useful measure for my research. All these different snaphshot measures are more like fun-facts as long as I am not able to assess the text of a given language version in toto.

But perhaps I am wrong, and there is a way I can get the 100 top writers of e.g. sewiki during its whole existence? Trondtr (talk) 08:35, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
