SheSaid 2022: Igbo Wikimedians User Group
Give her a voice!
There are significant numbers of notable women who have shaped the past of African societies, there are innovative African female business women who help to drive Africa’s many economies (formal and informal) and there are everyday realities that women and female children must face due to their gender. In this regard, the Wiki Loves Women initiative celebrates women leaders with the SheSaid drive. This event is organised by the Igbo Wikimedians User Group and the drive is aimed at improving the visibility of women by creating new or editing already existing Igbo Wikiquote entries.
Goals[edit]
- Participate in the global #SheSaid Campaign
- Raise awareness about gender gap across Wikimedia projects and the need to bridge it
- Train new and existing editors on how to create/edit women Wikiquote entries on Igbo Wikiquote
Event plan[edit]
This event is an Igbo Wikiquote contest that is scheduled to run from
Online training: 31st October 2022
Contest launch: 1st November 2022
Training and contest launch: 06:00 pm (WAT)

Join us[edit]
To participate, intending participants are encouraged to attend the online training and launch to learn how to create or edit entries on the Igbo Wikiquote, log into the the event dashboard, sign their names under participants by clicking on the join us tab above, then click on the Redlist tab above to navigate to the list of Wikiquote entries on the Igbo Wikiquote, create/edit and publish Wikiquote pages on notable women in Igbo language.

Outcome[edit]
The Igbo Wikimedians Use Group #shesaid drive which lasted for 2 weeks had new and existing precipitants. After the contest, participants created a total number of 472 Igbo Wikiquote entries. Due to the newness of 'ig.wikiquote.org' and because it was moved from the incubator to the mainpage few days to the contest, the event dashboard and Xtool were not counting entries accurately. Because of the aforementioned, facilitators relied on the user contributions for each participants to collate the total number of entries during the contest.
