Simple Wikipedia Campaign for Climate Change (SWCCC)

There are over 4000 articles on climate change on the English Wikipedia and on the Simple Wikipedia. A lot of the climate change-related articles on English Wikipedia use technical and advanced words and a lot of them don’t have Simple Wikipedia versions to make it easier for students, children, adults with learning disabilities, and non-native English speakers to access knowledge about this critical topic.

SWCCC wants to create Simple English Wikipedia versions of existing English Wikipedia articles on Climate Change as well as improve already existing ones so that knowledge on Climate Change will be accessible to everyone no matter their level of English efficiency.

Furthermore, the Simple English Wikipedia needs more enthusiastic editors. Many people don’t even know it exists and of the millions that do, they are left disappointed when they see the content gap caused by lack of active editors. A wiki launched to make knowledge easy to understand should have more articles than these; especially on Climate Change and everything else. SWCCC will immerse new and existing editors into Simple English Wikipedia and in the long term, they will contribute to other topics on the wiki.
