Requests and proposals Request an account on Foundation wiki Archives (current)
This page is for requesting the creation of a user account on the Wikimedia Foundation's website (not on any other wiki).
  1. To ensure that users are already familiar with the policies of at least one Wikimedia project, those applying for an account should be administrators or active editors in good standing [on any Wikimedia wiki], particularly active editors and translators on Meta and movement-level projects, or members of a Wikimedia committee or Chapter. Creation of an account is not automatic and is subject to approval.
  2. To ensure that requests are not forged, only registered users on Meta can submit requests. Please keep this page on your watchlist and check back on your request; you may be asked for more information before a request is accepted or rejected. If you do not respond, your request may be removed.
  3. After seeing your request fulfilled, please archive your section. Thanks!
Request an account

Please provide:

  • your username, with a link to a Wikimedia project where you are an admin or the names of the committee(s) or local chapters of which you are a member
  • a valid email address (not Special:Emailuser. We need a valid e-mail address to plug into the "create an account by e-mail" form.)
  • the reason(s) you need an account
  • your dated signature

Please note: You do not need an account on the Foundation wiki to help with most translations, and requests for accounts simply to translate will be denied. Translation work is done here on Meta-Wiki so that many people can collaborate and so that pages can be proofread before being published. If you wish to apply to do "WikiGnome work" please first spend time being active on Foundation wiki feedback or other Meta-/Foundation-level projects.

Thank you for your interest!

    • Hi AntonierCH - I'm not sure what you are asking. There is currently no way to be notified of new DMCAs on the Foundation wiki (the files are just uploaded, there is no page that is updated there). I would recommend instead that you watchlist c:Commons:Office actions/DMCA notices which is watchlist-able. Does that make sense? (If you still want an account I can create one anyway.) Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 16:38, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi JSutherland (WMF)! Thank your for your reply. I am also interested in other DMCAs than Commons and a good way to get notified by this is to add the DMCA category from the WMF-wiki to the watchlist and set in the preferences to get an email everytime the watchlist has a new element (Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changed). If a new account is problematic, I can simply check from time to time the categories on WMF-wiki. --Scoopfinder(d) 17:11, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi AntonierCH - yeah, my hesitation is primarily because we generally only give accounts on the Foundation wiki for editing and such. But I've created one anyway since you also want to edit. :) Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 20:54, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi JSutherland (WMF). Thank you for this, have a nice weekend! --AntonierCH(d) 21:08, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
