7th August 2026 - Tulu Wikipedia 10th Anniversary Celebration

St Aloysius Wiki Club - Tulu Wiki 10th Anniversary

The Wiki Club of St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University, Mangaluru, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Tulu Wikipedia on Friday, 7 August 2026, at the Computer Lab in the Maffie Block of the University. Tulu Wikipedia officially went live on 6 August 2016, marking an important milestone in the digital preservation and promotion of the Tulu language, literature, culture, history, and heritage. To commemorate the completion of ten years, the Wiki Club organised a special celebration attended by Mr. Santhosh Notagar, President of the Wiki Club, Dr. Hariprasad Shetty, and Ms. Prithvi Saldanha, along with students. As part of the celebration, a small Tulu Wikipedia edit-a-thon was conducted in the Computer Lab, where students actively participated in creating and improving Tulu Wikipedia content. The programme provided students with practical experience in researching, writing, editing, and contributing to Wikimedia projects while also highlighting the importance of preserving regional languages through digital platforms. The celebration marked a decade of Tulu Wikipedia and reaffirmed the Wiki Club's commitment to promoting open knowledge, multilingual digital content, and the preservation of Tulu language and culture.

India Ukrain Kannada Ediathon 2026

Introduction of Heritage Across Borders is a multilingual Wikipedia edit-a-thon that brings together Indian and Ukrainian communities to celebrate their shared appreciation for cultural heritage.

The campaign starts on Indian Independence Day, 15 August 2026, and closes on Ukrainian Independence Day, 24 August 2026.

The main focus of the campaign is knowledge exchange across languages. Indian language communities are encouraged to improve coverage of Ukrainian heritage, while the Ukrainian community is encouraged to improve coverage of Indian heritage. Participants may also work on other eligible topics from the campaign worklist.

Introduction of Chinese Cultural Heritage Edit-a-thon 2026- Cultural heritage within China and content outside China closely related to Chinese culture are the themes for this editing event. Entries submitted must be related to these themes and meet the basic entry standards to be eligible. The organizing team has also prepared virtual and physical rewards for participants, and users who reach the required scores will receive specially designed badges and postcards from the event members.
