Steward requests/Global permissions

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Shortcut:
SRGP
This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (other than requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, no other exceptions are allowed , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Global rollback for KonstantinaG07

Not ending before 1 April 2024 17:00 UTC

Hello! I am a former global rollbacker (had my access removed due to prolonged inactivity), and wikidata admin. I am currently active again in cross-wiki counter-vandalism and would like to apply to be given global rollback access again. Although not strictly required by the policy I have enabled 2FA. I am familiar with the global rollback policy and the local policies on using global rights, where applicable. --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 17:00, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global IP block exempt for Uyiliu2

I have to use a proxy due to local policy, and I hope to be unblocked. I need to add cross-language links to newly created articles and submit my own images to Wikimedia.Thank you so much --Uyiliu2 (talk) 08:37, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What policy requires using a proxy? Our policy (no open proxies) certainly doesn't require using a proxy. — xaosflux Talk 10:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The policy here refers to the policy of mainland China. I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is often blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 05:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Uyiliu2 What wikis are you having issues with, as I see you are exempt on the ZH and EN wikipedias. I do not think global exempt would be beneficial for only a couple of wikis unless you were a sysop or something similar. Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:47, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
see here for zh.wikipedia and here for en.wikipedia. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 14:06, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I applied for local IP exemption for the Chinese Wiki and English Wiki. I am from mainland China and had to use a proxy. Therefore, I was banned from all IP addresses. Then I was unable to use Wikimedia Foundation projects such as Wikidata normally. For example, I could not edit interlanguage links.--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:14, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good. If you applied for local IPBE on zhwiki & enwiki, you don't need Global IPBE anymore, right? Than you can withdraw this request. --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 10:18, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m afraid I cannot. I wish to use Wikimedia data and Wikimedia Commons normally, such as editing interlanguage links and uploading images to Wikimedia Commons. However, I am currently prohibited from doing so. Other than applying for GIPBE, do you have any other recommendations?If there is a better method, I would be very eager to try it.--Uyiliu2 (talk) 05:37, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I didn’t explain clearly before.To give a brief summary, I am from mainland China.I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:19, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
