Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for Stanglavine

Not ending before 17 February 2019 16:44 UTC
Hello, I've been working more and more with cross-wiki vandalism, mostly via IRC, but it's been a lot of work and time-consuming to use the undo function, so I'd like to be able to use the rollback. I really wanted to be able to use SWViewer as well. Rafael (stanglavine) msg 16:44, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

  • Neutral Neutral Nothing against you personally, but I note that the matrix (here defined as the number of edits on non-home wikis) is lower than what I normally see for such a role. I should also note that you have requested a similar permission on en.wikibooks. Leaderboard (talk) 15:39, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
@Leaderboard: Yes, because the en.wikibooks is one of the specific wikis where most encounter vandalism. But if the request here is approved, the request there no longer makes sense. Rafael (stanglavine) msg 17:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Requests for global IP block exemption

Global IP block exempt for Pamputt

Hello, I am requesting a global IP block exemption for all wikis. The reason is I already needed such permission on frwikt, frwiki and enwiki because I contribute using VPN and sometimes through the Tor network. If I want to edit on any other wiki, I do not want to ask for this permission again and again. Pamputt (talk) 06:38, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for OsmHydrantBot

Users of https://www.osmhydrant.org should be able to contribute images for fire-fighting facilities (especially hydrants) to Wikimedia Commons (Example: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fire-fighting-facility_node-6192441071.jpg) However, https://www.osmhydrant.org is hosted in a shared environment at all-inkl.com, which is subject to a global block until 12.02.2021 (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:GlobalBlockList/85.13.149.199). I was advised to seek a m:GIPBE at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:OsmHydrant#Re:OsmHydrantBot, thanks, --OsmHydrantBot (talk) 17:26, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Since you are going to contribute only to Commons, a local exemption is more appropriate. Ruslik (talk) 17:41, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
A local exemption for Wikimedia Commons sounds alright to me. Where do I need to apply for that? A quick search did not reveal a similar page for local whitelisting. OsmHydrantBot (talk) 18:49, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
c:COM:AN sounds the best one for me. — regards, Revi 18:50, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
I agree there - this recommendation came from @Vituzzu: though - who may have some more insight? — xaosflux Talk 00:51, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
The block is not meant to target this bot nor the owner. I cannot lift it just for technical reasons so I prefer the widest solution. Anyway if the owner is fine with a local exempt that's obviously not a problem to me. --Vituzzu (talk) 07:36, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Requests for global rename permissions

Global rename for Dr-Taher

The following request is closed.
Not ending before 11 February 2019 16:45 UTC

Hello, My name is Taher, I'm an editor and sysop in Arabic-wiki (my home wiki). On ar.wiki we suffer in many occasions from user names that violates our local username policy, and I help (very active) in follow-up unaccepted usernames (Mainly on Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention). Unfortunately, user:فيصل (Faisal) resigned and now علاء (Alaa) is the only active one on rename page on arwiki (which make a great load on one user). Since I'm available on a daily basis on ar.wiki, and there doesn't seem to be a reason that would prevent me from participating daily for the time being, so I believe I can help in this issue. Global rename for Zoranzoki21

Hi, I am sysop on Serbian projects (except Serbian Wikipedia but I will be there too soon). I actively working on technical matters there. I contributing on Phabricator and Gerrit too. I read Global_rename_policy and I confirm this policy so I give this pledge to respect of rules related to global renaming of users.. We no have renamers and stewards which understand Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and I think that I would do my job responsibly. Zoranzoki21 (talk) 17:34, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

@Zoranzoki21: Why do you need the right? Leaderboard (talk) 17:41, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
@Leaderboard: Thanks for question. I need this right for renaming users from Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian requests per policy from there. Too we no have users which know these languages which have this permission already. Zoranzoki21 (talk) 17:51, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Oppose Oppose At the same time and previous to this request, the user has also requested the patroller and translation administrator permissions in Meta. IMHO, gives me the feeling of a possible hat collecting. —AlvaroMolina ( - ) 18:02, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
@AlvaroMolina: I no works and I no contribute for hats. What is difference between my request and request for this right of previous user which you supported? Zoranzoki21 (talk) 18:14, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
@Zoranzoki21: I did not know the situation of that user in English Wikipedia, I only had in mind the fact that in the language of his home wiki there were no other experienced global renamers, and that perhaps a demonstrated and well-founded need could be evidenced in his request, that's why I subsequently changed my position; in this case, however, and despite the fact that I am open to supporting all the applicants of the global renamer permission of uncommon languages who wish to help and obviously have proven local experience/trust, it does not seem normal for a user to apply at the same time two other permissions with quite particular purposes, so I would not feel comfortable giving my support to an application under this concern. Regards. —AlvaroMolina ( - ) 18:42, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

  • In a very rare instance for me, I am concerned about rapid accumulation and requesting of permissions here. The user is a sysop on all of the small sr projects since 2018, but is not particularly active on any of them. This is the third permission that the user has requested on Meta-Wiki today. Given that the sysop tools have not been widely used, I don't think you have enough experience for me to judge whether you would be able to correctly interpret and implement renaming policies and use the access appropriately. – Ajraddatz (talk) 18:04, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Abuse filter helper for Leaderboard

As a user who has experience in bringing down spam through filters, I'm interested in analysing the abuse filters of MetaWiki (especially ones with global effects and private) to see how it could be improved. I would have ordinarily applied for a local permission, but I cannot see one which allows users to view private abuse filter logs. Please let me know if a different permission would suit me better. --Leaderboard (talk) 10:09, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

  • The "ordinary" process would be to apply for limited temporary adminship on WM:RFA. --Vogone (talk) 12:12, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks. After further thought I've decided to apply for limited adminship instead. Leaderboard (talk) 21:55, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

@Krd and Matanya: Why? Did I forget to ask for a renewal? Have I not been helpful? Huji (talk) 15:33, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Or is it because I had not signed L45? I thought I did before, and I did it again just now. Huji (talk) 15:35, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
It is about L45, please check your e-mails, you should have at least five on that topic over the last three months. --Krd 15:55, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Yes, and I thought I had signed https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/L45 the day I received the first of those emails. I just signed (or resigned) it earlier today. Could you please reinstate my OTRS membership? Huji (talk) 18:51, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Substantiation? And can perhaps Mentifisto explain what’s going on? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 09:31, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm assuming it's related to the non-signing of the recent updated privacy policy. -- Mentifisto 09:45, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Substantiation? See. Dogad75 + НоуФрост = 88% permissions-ru 2018... OTRS rights were not returned to me after voluntary surrender for a month. In the absence of claims to OTRS activities. Dogad75 remove global OTRS member. And who will process tickets? НоуФрост (talk) 10:02, 18 February 2019 (UTC) Ping Krd. НоуФрост (talk) 10:04, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Dogad75 has been contacted accordingly, and they are more than welcome to react. --Krd 15:58, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Прошу восстановить мне права OTRS. Извините, я просто не знал, что нужно снова подписать соглашение. С уважением, --Dogad75 (talk) 12:36, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
    • "I just did not know that I had to sign again the agreement" - as much as I understand, it is not about signing it for a second time. It is that L51 has been changed in some parts 95 days ago so OTRS members have to confirm that they do agree with the updated version of the Agreement. As I see you are not alone who missed it. --NeoLexx (talk) 15:04, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Two-factor authentication testers for lifehome

I would like to apply for the 2FA test feature to harden my account security, as I am going to constantly monitor and contribute to several local community pages. Thank you very much! Lifehome (talk) 08:08, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
