Global rollback for Tomybrz

After 2 months passed, i request global rollback permissions again, since i'm not very active on fr.wikipedia, i am currently more active on other projects (small wiki to deal against vandalism and Mediawiki (where i'm a admin)), i'm trusted on some projects and i have rollback experience on Mediawiki, fr.wikipedia and Meta. • Support Support, a rather strong support, many people will say too soon, but not me, Tomybrz have shown that he is a good antivandal and antispam volunteer. His work for SWMT is much appreciated by me, and I am sure many people will have same opinion as me. When I saw many Tomybrz revert didn't get marked by autoreviewrestore from GR package I ask Tomybrz why he's not a rollbacker yet and ask him to run for GR again, and he did (yes I confirm I ask Tomybrz to run for GR for his good revert crosswiki).--AldnonymousBicara? 18:37, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Support I looked at his global contributions since the time of his last request, up to "et.wikipedia". They mostly looked very good. The only questionable reversions I noticed were these:
    • az.wikipedia, April 29: Restored a vandalized version of an article. However, he reverted his own revert two minutes later.
    • br.wikipedia, April 29: Reverted an unregistered user's edit that changed the wording of an article. However, an hour later, an experienced user restored some of the changes that the IP had made. I don't understand why Tomybrz undid this edit, but it's not the kind of edit I would undo unless I understood the language.
    • et.wikipedia, March 11: Reverted an edit which changed a list article into a redirect. He reverted his own revert within a few minutes. In any case, both list articles consisted entirely of redlinks and have been tagged for speedy deletion.
Of these, the only one that seems problematic is the brwiki reversion, and it happens to be very recent. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:52, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ikr i made a mistake here because i saw {{vet]], for me it's not a link and it's not a template, so i reverted. Regards. Tomybrz Bip Bip 19:06, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Global rollback for Eihel

The following request is closed:

Hello, I am part of SWMT since about six months. GR would be a useful tool for continuing the fight. I hope this application will be appreciated with my pedigree. Best regards. --Eihel (talk) 16:38, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, I don't think you're ready yet for global rollback, especially considering I recently declined your rollback request on the Simple English Wikipedia due to issues distinguishing good faith and vandalism, and handling such differences. Thanks, Vermont (talk) 17:01, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It was two months ago and I did not have a complaint. --Eihel (talk) 18:42, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Eihel, rejected for being too soon and rejected for being unable to identify AGF vs Vandalism is different.--AldnonymousBicara? 04:04, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another potential concern: A few weeks ago, Eihel incorrectly identified an article on Min Dong Wikipedia as vandalism based on faulty interpretation of Google Translate results, potentially raising doubts about his skill at evaluating edits in languages he does not speak. However, to his credit, he was open to being corrected, fully acknowledged his error, and I suspect that he learned something from the mistake. PiRSquared17 (talk) 05:22, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I took a look at the user's edit history, looking at the Global User Contributions tool for all wikis up to "fi.wiktionary". The only reverts that looked questionable to me were these ones:
    • az.wikipedia, 24 November 2018. Eihel reverted an unregistered user who had removed vandalism, restoring the bad version. It's easy enough to make mistakes like that. He discovered the problem and fixed it within 5 minutes, which I consider a point in his favor.
    • el.wiktionary, several edits.
      • April 6: Reverted an unregistered user who added a correct synonym, albeit not formatted entirely correctly. In fact, a few hours later, an admin added it back, while thanking the IP in her edit summary.
      • December 1: Reverted a valid, albeit improperly formatted, addition of an example sentence.
      • December 1: Reverted another valid but improperly formatted example sentence.
      • December 1: Reverted an addition of a plausibly valid, but improperly formatted alternative sense of a word. (I don't speak Greek so I don't know if it is actually valid.)
      • December 1: Okay, this isn't a revert, but it's still an incorrect edit. The word "καταστατικό" means statute, not statue.
    • eml.wikipedia, April 10. Eihel reverted an edit which corrected the country of origin for a film. Like the azwiki example, Eihel recognized the error and restored the correct version within a matter of minutes.
    • ext.wikipedia, March 30. Eihel reverted an edit changing the colors of the uniform for Real Zaragoza. I don't know what to make of these edits, as neither version exactly matches the uniform colors I see on enwiki or eswiki. In any case, Eihel reverted his own revert.
    • fi.wiktionary, April 4. Eihel reverted a minor edit which made three changes. These changes were 1) moving the Wikipedia link template under the language heading (possibly correct[?], as seen on another article, fi:wikt:puu), 2) changing the heading of the translation list template to the word itself instead of the definition (possibly incorrect[?], as seen on fi:wikt:suolansirotin), 3) adding the article to a category (correct, although the category hadn't been created yet). So, Eihel's reversion was at least questionable, and the edit summary labeling it as "vandalism" seems wrong.
Of these, the only reversions that I consider problematic were the el.wiktionary ones. It's clear that in many cases he can recognize his errors on his own. A problem with this analysis is that it might distract you from all the dozens of reversions which were completely correct, which also need to be taken into consideration. PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your feedback PiRSquared17, I would be more careful for Hellenic wikis. For March 30, you can count it as an error. Doubt made me cancel my own decision, but it's just a team sponsor story. The search for truth has made me go to other sites, when in fact, the club has decided, in a press release, to continue with Adidas (not Nike as suggested by the IP). Another photo (April 2019) to prove it, so you can revert ... my undo. Sincerely. --Eihel (talk) 16:42, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Support editor trusted with the equivalent to rollback on multiple projects. If they are unable to distinquish between vandalism and good faith edits, then rollback should be removed on those places it is already assigned. As I don't think anyone is proposing doing that I see no reason to oppose this relatively minor right. Global rights are not a clique for people who know each other or are friends on specific wikis. They are tools that help people do tasks that help our movement as a whole. TonyBallioni (talk) 05:13, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • GA candidate.svg Weak support, mostly per pirsquared and tony, if he's open for being corrected, I am fine with it, just be careful when reverting edits in the language you don't understand in the future.--AldnonymousBicara? 05:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just some factual issues, I am happy to see Eihel helping out in numerous areas of Wikimedia. When there's a right they asked for when they are competent, I supported such as Property Creator on Wikidata and TA here. Thanks them for their effort. For rollbacker, they have it here, wikidata and Wikibooks. For here and wikidata, the difference between good faith and vandalism is much clearer than on a content project such as Wikipedia. On Wikibooks, it's an automatic right and very hard to be revoked. I had seen their reverts on content projects such as Wikipedia and most are good, except some doesn't fit in. Per Vermont and their 1st failed simple rollback application, I'm just pondering are they really knowing what constitutes good faith or not. They are receptive to feedback mostly, but not so at times. Sorry I can't support this at this moment. --Cohaf (talk) 06:39, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am open to criticism, but when they are constructive (to reply also to others). At the time on enWB, your critics were not, Cohaf, neither on the Talk Page of Atcovi, nor for the request of a rights (always on enWB). Atcovi was already admin of enWB and he made a mistake in the proofreading of one of my modifications. When speaking to an admin, you have to know how to argue and it displeases you that I do it:
"Actually having reviewed the differences it's really IMHO a meh. Indeed not worth to undergo such a long discussion.--Cohaf (discuss • contribs) 14:23, 8 January 2019 (UTC)"
Even if I make mistakes, others do too. The important thing is to recognize the value added to Wikimedia. I have not kept resentment towards Atcovi and I recognize its added value by my vote. Just as I also recognize the added value of Vermont by my vote, while he wrote to me that this IP did not vandalize (ST). By these errors, it is equally clear that it would not occur to anyone to take action against these gs (or to have voted for their appointments). For information, I also have this right on WD and here and it was given to me unequivocally by Aldnonymous. That whoever has not taken the shortcut of the rb, throws me the first stone. I have only one question: to grant me this right would be so damaging to Wikimedia that not to attribute it to me would be preferable? I bet that without your help, Cohaf, on my different requests for several months, they would be quite different, even on WD. And I'm not hiding from you that I was expecting to read you here. Now, everyone is looking at my history, it's clear that I'm not a vandal, and far away. Thank you to everyone who supports me. --Eihel (talk) 12:19, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No one is saying you're a vandal or a bad-faith user. I highly value your contributions to the various projects. In regard to your comment above, I'm unsure what your support of the GS requests of Atcovi and I has to do with this discussion. My problem is, as Global Rollback is a global right, there is a reasonable possibility of you misidentifying an edit (like that which PiRSquared17 linked above) on a wiki which you are unfamiliar of the language and policy. Further, what do you mean by, "By these errors, it is equally clear that it would not occur to anyone to take action against these gs (or to have voted for their appointments)." As a note, per my thoughts on granting permissions, I am leaning support, although have reservations. Thanks, Vermont (talk) 12:33, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To put things into context, this is where I first have contact with Eihel, it's reallythe "meh" as the discussion will prove for minute different, such a long discussion isn't that warranted. The second time is here where they used "You have not visited my history and you are throwing false accusations, it is defamation. As you have only 8 months of existence, I do not want to overwhelm you, but do not spit on others because you took 8 months more to be reviewer. Continue your work too, but with a little more AGF. . --Eihel (discuss • contribs) 08:46, 21 January 2019 (UTC)" after I told them to AGF more in the above paragraphs. To be professional is to assess people beyond resentments, so I did not oppose their PC / TA here. I will expect them not to. I know they have the Patroller right here, but it is a minor toolkit and hence, it's should not be unanimous as no voting should be done, it's individual admin discretion. I am sure it will not be any different if I didn't supported TA / WD PC, but my support is a vote of confidence. For Simple Wikipedia, here in their 1st application of rollback, I raised valid concerns and they replied "Chase a contributor on other projects seems to me to be extremely more combative than I am. Cordially. --Eihel (talk) 16:10, 23 January 2019 (UTC)", wow, this is an aaccusation of wiki stalking. That is why I am very reserved in this application just in case I got accused again. With the above and their most recent reply above, I will say that is the best example of why I am worried they are not assuming good faith. --Cohaf (talk) 12:40, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral Neutral To set the record striaght, after reading the whole discussion and the diffs, I cannot fault him much. I am just worried about AGF which and then it may cause editors (especially IPs) to go away from participating wiki, Having said that, if I am holding him over such issues, I myself may indeed be a little lack of AGF. This is common of my conversation with Eihel, we are always in different pace / rhythm. I really cannot put myself to support but I am not opposed to it though. I hope he will take it slow, if given the access, and then ask if unsure and be aware of local comments and feedback. I hope they will be doing good work that one day I can give a strong support for GS / Stewards. --Cohaf (talk) 18:40, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Calm down a bit Eihel, me giving patroller bits isn't such a good example for even bigger trust like GR. Unlike GR, I can take away Patroller easily. Almost no harm done giving this rights away. Meanwhile GR have to be done by stewards and its hard to track if such mistake occur in obscure wiki that nobody read.--AldnonymousBicara? 14:08, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Comment I don't normally get involved in these discussions, though this one looks to have got into a little bit of push and pull. That a specific community has rejected the rollback rights, and that a global attribution would add it to that community's pages is a concern to me with this request. If this right is granted I would be expecting that it would be conditional on the rollback to not be used at simpleWP. My advice to Eihel is to chill, looking at some of your conversations here would indicate that you are getting a little over-involved, and a little over-anxious. Best use of rollback is about not getting caught up in the biffo, that is where you use undo.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:29, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

(If Eihel really wants more support (canvass), why not just ask someone he is familiar with on homewiki? ) Anyway, thank you for the work that you have been doing so far! But I would not say support or oppose but some suggestions. If you have any hesitation whether or not one edit should be reverted, you can simply skip it instead of reflecting on it for minutes and self-revert again. If you see one edit consisting of 90% problematic and 10% constructive, try to edit it to remove the 90% problematic instead of reverting. Otherwise, if it is not obviously unconstructive and you still think it is necessary to revert, try to provide an edit summary. I think these are jugdements a GR needs regardless of experience. Please do not blame the community if you do not get promoted this time. They do care about details and may need some more time to accept you once you have done something inappropriate. Just keep on doing the work with caution whether you get promoted or not. See you around! --94rain Talk 01:51, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Global rollback for Cohaf

Not ending before 26 May 2019 06:42 UTC

Hey all, I can't say I am very experienced in handling crosswiki vandalism but I do have some experience. I know my index isn't that impressive and my cross-wiki matrix isn't that great as some global rollbackers / sysops (when they applied for the right). However, I believe I can tell the difference between good faith edits and vandalism in languages I am not familiar with. I also believe I have the experience of the rollback tool based on my experience in multiple project with the tool. Regarding supressing redirects, I also have some experience with the right in some projects. I hope to be given the tool to be able to clean up after crosswiki abusers more efficiently (although the undo button works), just a little faster. I intend to be of help to SWMT when needed. Thanks for consideration and your time. Regards, --Cohaf (talk) 06:42, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The primary and foremost reason for applying for 2FA is just enhance the security of my account by adding an extra layer of login for any potential intruder. Thanks in advance! Regards, SshibumXZ (talk) 22:39, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2FA for FR30799386

Very recently, I have been getting quite a lot of the failed attempts to log in messages. Since the computer that I use is shared among some other people, I would like to use 2FA to secure my account. I have read Help:2FA have understood the implications of having 2FA enabled. --FR30799386 (talk) 04:00, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see your account was blocked indefinitely on the English Wikipedia due to sockpuppeting. Could you please explain? Trijnsteltalk 12:26, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A sort of explanation can be found at the unblock request in my talkpage. Further, I pledge never to indulge in anything of this sort ever again. Regards. — FR 03:52, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For a right like 2fa-tester, I don't think any block is a blocker here since it just enhances their own security and do nothing else. If it's fine to Trijnstel I intend to grant the right. — regards, Revi 06:08, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2FA for Liamwli

I have 2FA enabled on every other website that supports it, and 1Password is shouting at me for not having it enabled here. I've read all the relevant documentation. Incidentally, why isn't the ability to enable it granted by default? Thanks, --Liamwli (talk) 23:53, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Liamwli it is on Wikitech but that's a very different kind of wikimedia wiki --PineappleEating (talk) 01:30, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ruslik0 Do I have to download this TOTP program thing to use 2FA or can I like use email

You should download the program. Ruslik (talk) 20:51, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ruslik0 I don't wanna have to download a program just to use 2fa they need to change 2fa --PineappleEating (talk) 23:20, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Then there's nothing stewards can do for you. You should open Phab request for that but I guess that phab request will also be rejected.--AldnonymousBicara? 03:33, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
