Global sysop for Stanglavine

Not ending before 9 September 2019 00:49 UTC

Stalktoy

Hi guys. I'm Stanglavine (or Rafael) and request global sysop flag. I make this request because since joining SWMT in April 2018, and most intensely when I became a global rollbacker in February 2019, I'm working with cross-wiki vandalism, and the permissions of delete, block IPs for short periods of time, or in more extreme cases, protect pages, would be very helpful in my work and would help me to stop disruptive edits (especially vandalism) on projects without sysop's or where they are inactive, as I find regularly. Usually, I making requests on IRC channels for others GS. I point out that I understand GS's restricted scope and have experience with sysop tools on pt.wiki and wikidata. Thanks for appreciation. Regards, Rafael (stanglavine) msg 00:49, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment Comment Hi Stanglavine, you are a trustworthy user but you are already a sysop, bureaucrat and checkuser at pt.wiki, sysop at wikidata and global renamer. Don't you think that is already a lot of work in all these functions? DARIO SEVERI (talk) 05:37, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi @DARIO SEVERI: thanks for preoccupation. I already thinked about this but, for two reasons, I concluded GS is possible and acceptable for me: Firstly, GS is much more technical and pontual that regullary sysop, so not add significative work load. Moreover, it's complementary to my current work (that I already do) and I think that positive aspects, like thecnical possibilite of can block instead of use infinete rollbacks, is more significative for my work that a possible additional work load. Second, sysop at pt.wiki and wikidata really give me work but, in compensation, checkuser team at pt.wiki and global rename team at meta have a good composition (not perfect, but good) and allow a good division of work (not overload a single user). Global sysop for Turkmen

Not ending before 18 September 2019 20:35 UTC

Stalktoy

Hello. I'am a global rollbacker, and a sysop on four Azerbaijani Wikiprojects (Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikiquote) and Turkmen Wikipedia.

Sometimes after reverting vandal edits and add the "delete" template vandals don't stop vandalizing. They remove the "delete" template from the page, continue vandalizing, or create unnecessary pages. I think this right will be effective for me to combat such edits carried out by users/IPs in Wikipedias with inactive sysops, or for someone who is not a sysop. Thank you!--Turkmen talk 20:35, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

I was a bit hesitant due to the very recent unsuccessful request and that they neglected to mention it here, however that does not detract from my trust that they would use the rights well. Global IP block exempt for Srdjan m

The VPN service I started using recently – ProtonVPN – seems to have been hit with various IP bans that are preventing me from editing whenever I use the VPN. Most servers you can pick from the VPN client are blocked in some fashion (recent example 172.98.93.227). As someone mentioned on the stewards IRC channel, the IP ranges have been blocked due to abuse, so since it's unrealistic to unban those, I would appreciate it if I could be granted a global IP block exemption instead. Thanks. --Srdjan m (talk) 19:52, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

@Srdjan m: I use ProtonVPN as well, and despite having GIPBE, I still can't edit some of major wikis because it's locally blocked there. For example, English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Only local IPBE will let you bypass local blocks. Masum Reza 21:55, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for KyleJeevas

Greetings. I'm operating a timesharing system with 300+ customers on the German/Austrian hosting company 'Hetzner', which is de facto the biggest one in german-speaking Europe. A complete /16 range of Hetzner is banned with the reason "hosting on hetzner + abuse from 178.63.XX.YY", and my IP is in this range. I would like to have at least my IP unblocked, which is 178.63.84.240, resolving to *.ka10.de. Apart from my request, there is something about this whole thing bugging me. I cannot see why it is okay to block a complete /16 by basically saying "hosted on $foo". That's about 64.500 hosts! Remember, we are talking about one of the biggest server hosters in the EU. Given that I often see banners about Net Neutrality on WP, this just doesn't taste right. Best regards...

Unfortunately it is not possible to unblock a specific IP from a range. Ruslik (talk) 18:24, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
And we ban server hosts for being indirect Open Proxy, which is prohibited. We can grant you an exemption to your account, but technically cannot unblock specific single IP address from the rangeblock. — regards, Revi 02:44, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Global rename for DutchTom

Not ending before 14 September 2019 21:35 UTC

Hello my name is Tom, as you can see I am active as DutchTom on Wikimedia projects. I am a sysop on Dutch Wikipedia and OTRS-volunteer. On our wiki we (almost daily) see new users with usernames that don't match our username policy. Most of the time these users get blocked because they use a companies name or a domainname as their username. When users get blocked they maybe get demotivated and they stop contributing. I would like to help them getting motivated again by helping them in the whole process of requesting a brand new username. I also would like to help users who once have chosen a name they don't want to use anymore. I can write down more reasons but I think you get the point. Besides my drive to help people, we only have one native Dutch global renamer at this moment. I think a bit help from another native Dutchie is more then welcome. What do you think? Hi, I would like to have 2FA enabled on my account. I am a rollbacker and pending changes reviewer on the English Wikipedia and a rollbacker on the Swedish Wikipedia, so I would like to secure my account. I have gotten a stronger password, but I would like to secure my account even more by enabling 2FA. I have read Help:2FA. --EPIC (talk) 17:44, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

I would like the 2FA enabled for my account, also confirming that I've read Help:2FA. Thank you!

You'll probably need to make the request from your account...Praxidicae (talk) 14:15, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
@Bahadorjn: Please login and comment something that you confirm this request. Otherwise this cannot proceed. — regards, Revi 02:45, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

I'm in the process of securing all my accounts with 2-factor authentication, whenever possible. Wikipedia is the last one on my list. I have read the help page :-)
