T Cells@yo.wikipedia.org

Hello Stewards. I am User:T Cells from Yoruba Wikipedia and a serving temporary sysop there. This is the 3rd times I'd be serving as temporary sysop on Yoruba Wikipedia. I want it permanent now and my community as fully supported via my RfA here. Thank you. T CellsTalk 06:35, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Why are you blocked in English Wikipedia? Ruslik (talk) 16:24, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Ruslik0 can I respond via email? Regards. T CellsTalk 16:42, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Responding via email would remove the chance for other editors to either substantiate or contradict your claims. For purposes of transparency, I request stewards not accept this request to respond via email. Best, Vermont (talk) 16:46, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Better to respond here. Ruslik (talk) 19:02, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your comment Vermont. I was subjected to recurring harassment during the case that led to my block on the English Wikipedia, many of which were suppressed and at least one account was indefinitely blocked for harassment. This was documented in ArbCom's finding of fact. I don't want to experience such things again, this is why I requested to respond via email. I am sorry if my request gives you a different impression.

Ruslik0 I was blocked for various reasons including

  1. Use of sockpuppetry during my earliest time on Wikipedia.
  2. Including engaging in autobiographical editing
  3. I also gave an impression of self-promotion
  4. Introduction of many errors and copyvio text into articles written by me.
  5. upload of copyrighted photographs.

I completely agree with ArbCom's finding of fact and I believe they took the best decision for blocking me. I understood why I was blocked and I ensured that I don't engage in the same behavior that resulted in my block on the English Wikipedia. Its about 4 years now since I was blocked but I continue to contribute to other Wikimedia projects and I have since improved. Now I understand that copyright is a serious thing. I have uploaded hundreds of photos on Commons and none has been deleted for copyright violation. In fact most of my works on Commons focus on removing copyrighted contents from that project. Now I am fully aware that sockpuppetry is "forbidden". I have been blocked on the English Wikipedia for more than 3 years, I have never for one day edit it under any account or create a sock account to contribute. I have been serving as a sysop on Yoruba Wikipedia and I have never ever create any article about myself as I am fully aware that it's a " No-No". I have written over 250 articles on Yoruba Wikipedia, even though over 90% of it are translation from English to Yoruba, I know that under no circumstances should I or anyone introduce error or copyrighted text to articles.

Please let me know if I have not adequately answer your question. Regards. T CellsTalk 19:55, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

@Ruslik0 and Vermont: In case it helps: I'm an active user and sysop at Commons, and I can confirm that T Cells is a good standing and helpful member of that community. I understand he was banned at wiki.en some years ago due to a mix of newbie clumsiness and a misunderstanding over an English word that ultimately gave the impression of self-promotion. I believe he should ask that ban to be lifted, as IMO it's based on old venial sins of little importance, but keeps damaging his reputation like a curse. Though I don't follow T Cells activity at the Yoruba Wikipedia, I understand that no problem has been raised related to it, but only with the old wiki.en ban. I would like to add that it is great that Wikimedia committed editors like T Cells take an interest in developing Wikipedia projects like Yoruba, which are especially helpful in bringing aboard the Wikimedia projects until now underrepresented communities. Best,--- Darwin Ahoy! 00:02, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

  • re to Vermont, he responded here (instead of email), I think that resolves your concern. To Ruslik0, to add to what DarwIn said, yo.wiki and en.wiki are separate projects, so I don't see how block on one magically extends to the other. For instance currently, I know a certain highly active admin at Commons (a major project) who is presently blocked indefinitely at English Wikipedia. Their block on enwiki has no relation to their adminship at Commons (even though he can theoretically do actions that affect English Wikipedia). So if adminiship on Commons has no relation to English Wikipedia then certainly yo.wiki has no such relation too. – Ammarpad (talk) 13:32, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Hindi Wikisource is a newly approved sub-domain and have no admins/interface admins. This user has admin experience on Hindi Wikipedia and multilingual Wikisource. We are facing problems because this project has just gone live and files are needed to be imported from Sourcewiki to Hindi Wikisource. Even the user (@Jon Harald Søby:) who is helping in initial file transfer has recommended to get admin right as soon as possible to avoid some hiccups. This user is trustworthy enough to perform the required duty. Our Hindi Wikisource community has full faith in him. It is requested to give him permanent adminship with interface admin rights. X mark.svg Not done. Theklan, unfortunately, with just 1 user with over 10 edits in the last month euwikisource has too small a community at the moment to allow us grant a local bureaucrat flag there. On the other hand, there are not so many things bureaucrats can do besides granting administrator and bureaucrat flags. That does not happen too often and it is no bother for us to handle here from Meta. We would gladly fulfil a similar request in the future when your community grows much bigger. Thank you for your efforts expanding it though, and see this as an encouragement rather than a discouragement, please. --Base (talk) 17:32, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

By our policy which can be seen in the given link (point no. 2) an administrator needs to have 180 edits in previous 6 months. The user here doesn't meet this requirement. User is notified of this.--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 04:55, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Dear Steward, This user is Oldest wikipedian and Created lots of Articles. His edit count is 1,00000+ so we do not want to lost this wikipedian. This user recently activeted on wiki and giving answer on his talk page at hindi wikipedia. Please give time to making edit. A request.--आर्यावर्त (talk) 10:52, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
@आर्यावर्त: It is not about what user did in past. It is an accepted rule at hiwiki for the security and other uses. If you wish you can get a consent there and change the rule.☆★Sanjeev Kumar (talk) 14:59, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
I have been long old user at the project and aided a lot, not only in language text edition, but also in templates, portals, Main page, etc, etc. Since last year, I've been transferred to a remote place, Shillong airport, in North Eastern part of India, that too 35kms far from the main city having tremendous data network issues.

My family stays away at Delhi and I have to care or for my responsibilities towards them also from here. Apart from this, I've been busy in official projects been carried on here।

Due to above-mentioned reasons I found it difficult to spare time। But I promise that I will try to spare time if given a chance. I will not beg for a chance, but expect that simply not running after the self made rules, but caring to maintain a contributor, I may be given a chance to improve my time contribution.

Dear Steward, I spoke to the user and requested him to be active in the hiwiki. The user has promised me that he will be activated from today itself. I request that this nomination be put on hold for some time and given time to them. Thanks.-आर्यावर्त (talk) 15:44, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
But *you are not the community*. What he personally said to you is no way is important. Everyone has busy life, if you can't give it time; don't force it. Rule is for the same thing.--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 16:14, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
The user has not maintained even 100 edits on main namespace on hiwiki in 8 months. Above mentioned rule says 180 edits in 6 months. A rule should be maintained by admin itself. However, if user will be able to maintain its contribution to satisfactory level then after 3 or 6 month's activity, adminship can easily be granted to him. He himself said he is facing time and connectivity issues. Is it a mandatory hat to keep? What's a big deal in it! We can be a proud volunteer without any such hat. Is'nt it? --अजीत कुमार तिवारी (talk) 17:24, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

आर्यावर्त@hiwiki

In Hindi Wikipedia, some people are harassing other users and admins by forming teams. Some people had removed the user Ashish Bhatnagar from the flag bearer of the Hindi user group in violation of the rules and that was why he became inactive and his admin rights were also removed together. I am leaving the wiki, which is also bothering me.-आर्यावर्त (talk) 03:01, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

My admin-period runs out this month (however it's not set to "expire" by itself), and due to personal reasons I don't have much/any time for wiki at the moment. It's possible the sv-community wouldn't mind me keeping the admin rights, but by principle I don't want to have them if I don't expect to be active in a long time. Thanks. IJzeren Jan@nl.wikipedia

According to nl.wikipedia policies, administrators lose their admin rights when their activity has fallen under the limit of 250 edits within 365 days. IJzeren Jan reached that point earlier today. DutchTom (talk) 17:49, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Please hold for a little while. There is a discussion going on on nlwiki about the number of edits the user made. Mbch331 (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
I (as an admin on Dutch Wikipedia) strongly object against this request. It seems DutchTom has made a mistake in counting the edits. On top of that there seem to be other issues that need to be taken into account. I kindly ask you to ignore this request and consider it not to have been made. Ecritures (talk) 20:17, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. In light of the above, let's not process this one for now. If IJzeren Jan is indeed to be desysopped later, please file a new request :) Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:21, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
What? They have less than 250 edits in the past year (one hidden edit in the past year). There is no discussion about the edits, there is a discussion about me following the rules we made with our community and people who don't like the rules or my request. DutchTom (talk) 20:41, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
(Local crat) Ecritures's objections are largely based on personal believes, not policy based. Policy is pretty clear. Once a person made less than 250 edits the tools need to be removed. I re-counted and DutchTom counted the edits correctly. Ecritures I'm sad to see Jan go as an admin but that's no excuse for ignoring a key policy. Natuur12 (talk) 20:55, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

IJzeren Jan@nl.wikipedia

According to nl.wikipedia policies, administrators lose their admin rights when their activity has fallen under the limit of 250 edits within 365 days. IJzeren Jan reached that point yesterday (Dutch time). See: nl:Wikipedia:Stemlokaal/Inactiviteit. The requests of Ecritures are sympathetic, but not policy based. The Banner (talk) 22:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

For the first request see [3] (in case of archiving by bot). As nlwiki bureaucrat I support this request, second bureaucrat to support. Activity criteria: "An admin who has made less than 250 edits during the past 12 months, will have their admin flag removed." IJzeren Jan made less than 250 edits between 16 October 2018 and 16 October 2019. As such his admin bit should be removed. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 07:54, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Another nlwiki bureaucrat here. I support the interpretation of the rules by Taketa. It's sad to see IJzeren Jan lose his mod rights, but this follows immediately from the activity criteria the Wikipedia community at nlwiki has decided upon. If the community wants more lenient rules, they can change their own regulations. CaAl (talk) 12:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
The local policy activity criteria states "less than 250 edits during the past 12 months". October 2019 is not yet a "past" month, so the edits should be counted in the period from 1 October 2018 to 30 September 2019. There were 408 edits during that period, so no reason yet to revoke mod rights. Next check date is 1 November 2019, when October 2019 has become a "past month". Rgds, Trewal (talk) 13:40, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
You know that policy has never been interpreted that way. Please stop this extreme level of wikilawyering. Natuur12 (talk) 13:57, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
What is the problem with waiting 2 weeks till 1 November? Please show me where my interpretation is wrong, instead of accusing me of extreme wikilawyering. PS. There is an ongoing discussion about this on the local nlwiki, and I am not the only one that supports this interpretation. Rgds, Trewal (talk) 14:12, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
That you are stretching the period by misinterpreting the activity criteria by counting only full months, not periods as long as a month. The Banner (talk) 16:04, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Your claim of "stretching" is incorrect. In the above interpretation the window is exactly 12 months and has exactly the same size as the sliding window, not a second longer. Rgds, Trewal (talk) 18:03, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Why do you think that "the period of a month" always starts at the first of a calendar month? The Banner (talk) 18:20, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Yes check.svg Done The interpretation of the local policy by local bureaucrats takes the precedence over all other interpretations. Ruslik (talk) 20:41, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
