Simple rename requests[edit]

Eleassar[edit]

Time2wait.svg On hold awaiting a sysadmin - Dear Eleassar, following global rename policy renames of accounts with more than 50,000 edits altogether should not be performed without supervision of a sysadmin. This due to the risk of breaking the wiki. I have notified Legoktm and Hoo man. They can supervise the rename. All the best, Taketa (talk) 15:24, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks a lot. Please give me a few days before implementing this change; it's something akin to changing a personal name - one doesn't go lightly about it. --Eleassar my talk 19:06, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Ipipan[edit]

@Ipipan: the name you are requesting does not exist, therefore, not able to usurp. Would you like a rename by requesting for a rename through Special:GlobalRenameRequest? Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 14:18, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@Atcovi: this is a simple request, and you must move it to this section just Face-smile.svg --Alaa :)..! 16:42, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

GalaKapanadze[edit]

@GalaKapanadze: the name you are requesting does not exist, therefore, not able to usurp. Would you like a rename by requesting for a rename through Special:GlobalRenameRequest? Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 14:17, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@Atcovi: Okay I will be request from this form. Can I request name Gala? --GalaKapanadze (talk) 14:24, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
My apologies @GalaKapanadze:, I must've gotten this request mixed up with another request. The username, "GalaK", exists, and it contains important edits at en.wikipedia and commons. As a result, GalaK cannot be usurped. However, the name "Gala" appears to be eligible for usurpation, as the only edits from this account is on his/her own userpage on he.wikiquote. Though, to be sure, I'll ask another global renamer for his opinion: (User:علاء?)--Sorry for the confusion. EDIT: Also, you don't seem to have a global account. I'm not sure if your account is able to bee renamed. Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 14:44, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@Atcovi: the user request to change the name in Special:GlobalRenameRequest, because of this the GalaK appear as exist and can't be usurped --Alaa :)..! 16:40, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@Atcovi: They has been approved my rename request and my new name is "GalaK". But if "Gala" is eligible for usurpation I want change GalaK to Gala. What can i do? --GalaK (talk) 16:21, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@GalaK: sorry but you must wait for 6 months now to make a new rename for you. Thanks --Alaa :)..! 16:40, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@علاء: after the 6 months, it is possible change GalaK to Gala? --GalaK (talk) 16:51, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@GalaK: yes, Gala account is eligible to usurp, after 6 month you can request to usurp it --Alaa :)..! 16:58, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
@علاء:Thanks, I will be back. --GalaK (talk) 17:00, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Anoko[edit]

@Anoko: Face-smile.svg Are you read what we wrote in the box under the section header? --Alaa :)..! 21:06, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
@علاء: - This request was posted on nl.wikipedia and I redirected it here. It is a local merge request. Not a global merge request. Not sure on current protocol or willingness, but technically it should not be a problem. I did this multiple times when I was a steward. Stewards can dissolve the two global accounts and merge. Use local renaming to switch the local accounts after dissolving the global accounts, and have the user recreate the global accounts themselves. All the best, Taketa (talk) 21:59, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
As I said before, that we can't merge accounts! but to close the request I think you should ask the stewards in IRC channel #wikimedia-stewardsconnect. Regrades --Alaa :)..! 04:42, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
It was painful, very painful, it seems it has been done Mardetanha talk 09:11, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Dear Anoko moonlight, please log into both accounts and go to Special:MergeAccount to combine your accounts into a single global account. And thank you very much Mardetanha! Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 09:22, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Done, thanks! Anoko moonlight (talk)

SUPERNATURAL666[edit]

@SUPERNATURAL666: - You were renamed two months ago. Renaming is not done lightly. This will be your last rename. Do you still want to be renamed? Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 12:40, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Dear Zoranzoki21, merging of global accounts is currently not possible. As such this request cannot be done. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 12:36, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Users Wikipedia, Wikimedia, Commons, Wikidata, Pywikibot, Mediawiki and other[edit]

+ these sister projects names: Wikibooks, Wikispecies, Wikiversity, Wikinews, Wikivoyage.

Not suitable usernames for editors. These accounts must be usurped, then re-created by some trusted user(s), with descriptive global userpages pointing to the entities which name they have, and then locked again globally forever :) --XXN (talk) 18:32, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

The user "Commons" is an established user with over 5K edits. Have you talked to them about their username? —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:04, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
No, I didn't contacted that user. You can proceed to solving simple cases (they have less edits and some of them already are blocked locally). The case of user "Commons" might be postponed (or even reconsidered?); I don't have time to contact and communicate with him, maybe someone else could inform him about the problem with the current username. --XXN (talk) 20:54, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
Why do they need to be renamed? What is the value in doing this? Lock and leave; no issue. Delete anything problematic; oversight if necessary. Otherwise, all such sister wikis names are now blacklisted, though any admin can override such blacklisting. The world is imperfect.  — billinghurst sDrewth 23:08, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
^ I concur; global renaming takes up a lot of server resources, and we don't want to waste it on bad faith users. If the goal of this renaming was to stop the usernames from being recreated, well, our current situation of keeping them locked works. If you want to create global userpages, you can do that without having to rename or unlock the accounts. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:11, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
X mark.svg Not done I do not think this is a legitimate reason to rename accounts under the policy. If the requester wants to usurp these usernames, they need to use the standard process. Ruslik (talk) 13:26, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Epicgenius[edit]

@Epicgenius: Huh? I see three problems with your request:
  1. The username "Genius" has 213 edits to de.wikinews. The account doesn't seem eligible for usurpation.
  2. "Genius" does not have a local account on ja.wikiversity; see Special:CentralAuth/Genius.
  3. You have almost 200,000 edits. We need sysadmin supervision to perform renames on users with over 50,000 edits. Are you really, really sure you want this username that's gonna kill a dozen server kittens?
k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 02:39, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
@K6ka: Never mind, it seems like it's not worth the trouble, especially not with the potential loss of server kittens. ;) I would like to withdraw this request. epicgenius (talk) 03:01, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
@Epicgenius: As a general rule of thumb, we only rename accounts that either 1) Have absolutely no edits (so a global edit count of zero); 2) Have had all of their edits deleted or reverted right away; or 3) Have only edits to userspace that can be deleted. There is no global usurpation policy, and an RFC for it has ground to a halt. That's the general rule we follow, however. Even if the account was eligible for usurpation, 200K is quite a lot (More than my edit count by a long shot). —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 03:04, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
@K6ka: OK. Thanks anyway. Even if that account had been eligible for usurpation, I probably wouldn't have done it anyway because I don't want unnecessary sysadmin intervention for what's basically a vanity name. Also, now that I look at the central auth, I didn't know my edit count was that much more than yours was. Wow, I've been editing a lot. epicgenius (talk) 03:08, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

@Andromeda~enwiki: -just to clarify- you wanna change your name from (Andromeda~enwiki) to (Flordeneu) globally, yes? --Alaa :)..! 12:35, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes, that's it. Thanks! Andromeda~enwiki (talk)
@Andromeda~enwiki: Flordeneu will changed to Flordeneu (usurp), okay? --Alaa :)..! 09:14, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Do you mean Andromeda~enwiki will become Flordeneu and Flordeneu will become Flordeneu (usurp)? If that, then OK.
Andromeda~enwiki (talk) 20:35, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
I think that later it will be possible to re-attach your old account eswiki@Flordeneu to newly renamed Flordeneu (former Andromeda~enwiki) account. Ruslik (talk) 11:45, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
