Personal info: In the previous year, I served in two global groups, steward and ombudsman commission. As I also have a full-time position in my outside life, and because there are many more stewards than ombudsmen, I decided to spend as much time for the OC as was needed to fulfill the tasks at hand there, and only if there is time left, I would do steward work. It didn't work out that well, as that left-over amount of time was not too impressive. So I ended up with very little logged action on the steward side. However, I did a lot of things in the background, too, which I really want to continue, like (trying to) mediate in communities which don't have other possibilities than to ask the stewards for help, and such things. I also pretty much enjoyed the collaboration with the WMF people, especially Maggie Dennis and Philippe Beaudette, both as a steward and in the OC. Now that I leave the active seat on the OC (I will remain in close contact to the commission in a sort of advisory function), I will have more possibilities to do other things, too. Therefore, I would like to offer my services as a steward to the global community again.

Informationen zur Person: Im vergangenen Jahr habe ich in zwei globalen Nutzergruppen mitgearbeitet, nämlich als Steward und Ombudsmann. Da ich nun auch eine Vollzeitstelle "draußen" habe und weil es viel mehr Stewards als Ombudsleute gibt, habe ich mich dafür entschieden, die Zeit für die OC aufzubringen, die dort nötig ist, um alle Aufgaben erfüllen zu können, und nur wenn dann noch Zeit übrig ist, Steward-Aufgaben zu übernehmen. Es hat nicht ganz so funktioniert, wie ich mir das vorgestellt hatte, da die Zeit, die übrig geblieben war, nicht allzu umfangreich war. Aus dem Grund hatte ich im letzten Jahr nur relativ wenige Logbuchaktionen als Steward. Allerdings habe ich auch im Hintergrund vieles gemacht, was ich auch gern fortsetzen möchte, nämlich z.B. (zu versuchen), kleineren Communitys bei Konflikten zu helfen, die keine anderen Möglichkeiten haben, als die Stewards um Hilfe zu bitten. Ich habe auch die Zusammenarbeit mit den WMF-Leuten, insbesondere Maggie Dennis und Philippe Beaudette, sehr positiv empfunden, sowohl als Steward als auch in der OC. Nun, da ich den aktiven Sitz in der OC zugunsten einer beratenden Funktion aufgebe, werde ich wieder mehr Möglichkeiten haben, andere Dinge zu tun. Aus diesem Grund möchte ich der globalen Nutzergemeinschaft auch weiterhin meine Dienste als Steward anbieten.

Comments about Thogo[edit]

Remove Thogo regained the Steward permission at last year's confirmation following a change in WMF policy regarding the OC, however thought the year his activity levels have been highly volatile and rather low, with few actions since June, concentrated in a single month. While I found Thogo insightful and helpful in my dealings with him and would have loved to see more of him this year, that did not happen and the activity levels are too low for me to support continued steward status. Keep As a steward, Thogo has provided good advice and judgement over his tenure. As he was in the first "class" of stewards who were able to retain their rights as ombudsman (I believe), I can understand that the dual role was more difficult to handle than expected. I believe that Wikimedia as a whole is better served with Thogo as a steward, and I am willing to cut him some slack, especially with his statement that now that he will be focusing more closely on the steward role, his activity will increase. -- Avi (talk) 00:02, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Remove IMHO you were true on focusing on the ombudsman work instead of the steward tasks. The OC group is quite small and has a lot of work to do, it is therefore important for people working on it to be active.
