Stewards/Confirm/2026

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Translate this page at Template:Steward confirmations.

Notice

Voting is currently open for eligible voters until 27 February 2026, 14:00 (UTC).

The 2026-27 Confirmation will begin on 06 February, and will finish on 27 February.

The 2026-27 Steward Confirmations are an opportunity for the Wikimedia community to comment on the performance of existing stewards. To make the process as smooth as possible, the confirmations are organized as follows.

To comment, please log in with an account that has edits (on any wiki) before 06 February. During the 2026 Elections, please mention if you are comfortable or unhappy with the use of steward tools of any of the people listed below and why.

After the election, stewards (including the newly-elected ones) are invited to review the confirmation comments and to give their impression of the outcome (consensus to confirm/remove etc.) on Talk:Stewards/Confirm/2026 for every steward who stood for confirmation. Of course, they are not required to do this for every candidate and will be especially careful to do it regarding someone about whom they expressed strong opinions in the confirmation. Non-steward comments are welcome outside of the "Final Decision" section, subject to the usual expectations of civility. Confirmation discussions will last one week after the appointment of the newly elected stewards. This may be extended to two weeks for one or more confirmations at the discretion of the Election Committee if the committee believes further input is required before concluding. The Election Committee will close these discussions and implement the outcome (which also means making a decision in non-obvious cases).

All stewards elected before February 2026 will undergo this process.

  • Personal info: I was elected as a steward last year – thanks to everyone for their participation – and, despite being somewhat overwhelmed with the steward tools at first, became more acquainted with them over the first few months with the help of my friendly colleagues. My work chiefly consisted of global locks and blocks, as well as CheckUser, of long-term or cross-wiki abuse accounts and IPs, mostly ones I came across on my own but sometimes also upon private or public requests. According to Steward Stats, I have performed roughly 1000 steward actions during my first year (not counting a smaller number of non-public actions such as suppression), though, as many Wikimedians will have learnt already, numbers do not usually tell that much, and personally, it does not feel like I have dedicated a lot of time to steward work. At the same time, I do not feel like I care enough to promise anything like higher activity in a potential second term; what I can say is that I cannot imagine being much less active than I am right now, and if the community deems this to be sufficient as to be helpful, I will gladly continue to serve in my role. If not, I am sorry for everyone who has put their trust in me but ended up disappointed.

  • Personal info: Hello! Over the last year my focus has been on responding to global vandalism and abuse, as well as contributing to various steward discussions and engagement with the WMF on the technical and policy side. I was slightly less active this year as I have been focusing on the U4C and changed jobs halfway through the year, leading to a bit less free time. I don't plan on running for another U4C term, meaning I'll be back to full capacity for steward work this summer. As always, happy to respond to any concerns or questions. – Ajraddatz (talk) 23:21, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: Personal info: Hello! I was elected as a steward in 2022, this is my fourth confirmation. I have remained active over the last year, continuing to work on responses to active abuse, including account security issues. I am also an active and regular participant in the monthly steward meetings, the mailing lists, and other discussion spaces, and have been helping to coordinate major changes and work with the Wikimedia Foundation and the English Wikipedia functionaries. I expect to maintain a similar level of activity next year. With the community's support, I would be glad to continue to serve as a steward. • Personal info: Hi there! I was elected a year ago, so this is my first confirmation. Over the past year I've been mainly active on SRG (where I'm a top-6 editor over the last year [1]) and SRP (where I am the top editor in that period [2]). These are also the areas where I plan to continue my work if confirmed. I'm sure I made some mistakes along the way, but getting into this role is pretty complicated:) Whenever I wasn't sure about something, I tried to ask others for help. During last year's Wikimania in Nairobi, Jimbo chose me as "Functionary of the Year", which I'm really happy about. Recently my activity may have dropped a bit due to personal reasons, but I still check the wiki every day to stay up to date. With the community's trust, I'd be glad to serve another term. Thank you for your consideration! AramilFeraxa (talk) 22:43, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: The initial placeholder statement was left at 19:55, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

This is my seventh confirmation or so it seems. As it is seen from me failing to replace the placeholder with an actual statement timely, the reason being MoD of Ukraine blocking my Starlink until I managed to get it whitelisted, my capacity to contribute is no better than it was a year ago, in fact it is worse.

There is very little I have done as a Wikimedian this year in general, even less so as a steward. I think I did manage to close a couple RFP, I did lock a few LTAs and compromised accounts and I did consult a couple of people on what stewards can do, but that is about it.

I think at this point it is an open secret enough to just put it bluntly in the open for the sake of simplicity, for the last a year and a half I am, against my will, an AfU soldier, and thus my situation directly depends on the situation in Ukraine and the global processes around it. Unfortunately more and more male Ukrainian Wikimedians in Ukraine face the same fate, that is while with even greater strain of the electricity grid and other problems affect even those who haven't faced it yet. I know that for some this might raise security concerns, I assure you that in terms of account and data security there is little extra risk involved, I can elaborate if needed. What is at risk is my life, and thus I want to point to my wikiwill in case it becomes known I am no more. This does undermine my capacity to contribute greatly, unfortunately.

As always whether I am confirmed as a steward or not I would still be around when I can, and that would to a large extend include things related to the stewards' work. Thank you all for your patience and for the trust you show for all these years.

  • Personal info: Hi everyone! Since I was elected as a steward last year, this is my first confirmation. In the past year, I mainly focused on countering cross-wiki vandalism, spammers, and other abuse. I have also been helping in processing enquiries sent to the stewards’ VRTS queues from time to time (including the queue for suppression requests).

Furthermore, I have also been helping out with some of our more administrative (and sometimes less visible) tasks, including steward meetings & discussions.

I am generally available via Discord (and IRC, although my IRC presence has dropped a bit in the past year) & email and via my talk page.

My activity during the past year might not appear to be as consistent as I would like it to be, but I have been consistently watching Wikimedia-related discussions, events… and have been readily available for processing requests addressed to me. Last year has been a bit busy for me (both privately and professionally), but I expect things to improve this year. With the support of the community, I would like to continue serving as a steward! --Daniuu (talk) 18:17, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: My work as a steward is still focusing on background activities. I have represented Wikimedia Stewards User Group a couple of times over the last term, starting with the Stewards Conference in February, Wikimania in August and the off-site of the PSI team in Berlin, and ending with the Wikimedia Futures Lab right now while writing this confirmation statement. I am still co-contact of the group and wrote its annual report where you can see that I am following all different steward focus areas closely. Furthermore, I am serving in the ElectCom for this election/confirmation process.
Over the past year, I have spent many hours in helping the PSI team with bringing temporary accounts to local wikis, supporting their communication, listening to community at events and onwiki and writing documentation and taking feedback back to the team or writing bug reports for making this project a success. But I was also giving feedback to the other PSI tools under development. I tried to join all stewards calls (with WMF), where these and other topics were discussed among stewards. A lot of non-tech related discussions there were even initiated by me. All in all, wherever I participated in one of my various roles, I tried to use my visibility as the Laureate Wikimedian of the Year 2024 which was awarded to me in particular for my long-time commitment to my work of stewards to get their work visible and better supported.
Beyond my background work, I am still helping out occasionally with anti-vandalism work, focusing on the creation of abusive usernames (which often results in unlogged actions) and related loginwiki CheckUser actions. Most of my other work on Metawiki is related to CentralNotice, where I am one of the most active administrators and help the global community to make editors and readers aware of their local or global activities. For that purpose, I co-created training materials for requesters and new admins which helped close the bottle necks there a little. I would like to continue all these activities in the next term and look forward to your support, feedback or questions.

  • Personal info: Hello! This will be my second steward confirmation. My activity wasn’t as high as in 2024, but I did what I could and I chose to instead focus on the work I thought was most useful, while still remaining available on- and off-wiki (albeit with some slower response times). I was admitted to hospital in mid-April after some personal stuff, after which I chose to lower my activity as I decided it was the best approach both for myself and for the community, and as I wanted to spend some time in calmness for my own good.
I do not intend to return to “superactivity” as I had in the past. Partly for my personal best, but also because the more time I’ve taken off and thought about last year’s confirmation, the more I have agreed with what was raised back then. I have slowly been increasing my involvement on Wikimedia again, and have gotten back to doing regular work, on a level I feel comfortable with and intend to keep up. With that being said, I would be happy to continue for another year as long as the community wants it that way, and I’m available for answering any questions that may come up here. In addition to my volunteer activities, I'm employed by Wikimedia Germany as a software developer for Wikidata.

Last year, I have primarily processed requests for global account locks. Also I have participated in small wiki monitoring and spam fighting, helping smaller communities clean up after spam bots and vandalism. • Personal info: This is my second confirmation. My areas of activity stayed largely the same compared to last year. I've been more active on SRG and other steward request pages apparently (compare e.g. steward and LWCU statistics from one year ago [3][4][5] to current stats [6][7][8]) but to be honest it doesn't feel like considerably more activity – perhaps that means everything feels more routine now. In addition to publicly visible actions I've been involved in Steward-WMF collaboration, e.g. with teams like Product Safety and Integrity, especially in preparation for the global rollout of temporary accounts and participated at offline activities, e.g. at the Stewards and U4C conference in February 2025. As I always say, I don't tend to generate any controversy as a steward or on projects where I am active as an editor. With the exception of the fourth quarter of 2025, when I was very busy in real life and slowed down a bit, I have maintained my usual level of activity. I tend to examine the noticeboards at the start of the UK day, then pick up things that might require a bit more thought or investigation. If the community wants me to, I am happy to continue although I think this is likely to be the last year I do so.

Over the years, I have remained mostly focused on handling LTA cases, cross-wiki spam, and coordinated malicious activity. I also contribute in other areas when needed, such as user rights management, account renaming and other steward-related maintenance tasks.

The past two years have been extremely challenging for me personally. In 2024, I lost my father, and in 2025, my mother became seriously ill. These events, combined with everything that had already happened, led me into a depression and caused me to step away from wiki activities for some periods.

Fortunately, over the last months I have been gradually recovering and have been able to return to my steward duties with more consistency. I still maintain a good awareness of many LTAs and cross-wiki trolls (some of which I have been tracking since the mid-2010s), and I tend to be online during hours when fewer stewards are usually available, which helps cover different time zones.

I would be very grateful to continue serving as a steward for one more year, if the community feels I can still be trusted and useful in this role. I truly appreciate your support and understanding during these difficult times.

    Thank you for reading!

In a world that apparently becomes more volatile each year, Wikipedia is probably more valuable than ever, as a lighthouse of knowledge. I’m getting melancholic …
Still, my main focus is dealing with vandalism and trolling. I would love to spend more time in the wikiverse, but (personal and professional) life seems to get more demanding each year *sigh*, so I can’t promise that. I'd like to thank you all for your encouragement and permission to carry out my duties thus far. The year 2025 was probably my lowest performance of all my years of activity, because I had medical issues. I can't say much, but this was a complex time for me, as I was suspected of having cancer. Of course, during that time, I focused on my role as a checkuser, mainly working on the language committee, and creating new wikis. Anyway, this issue has been resolved successfully, and it looks like everything will be resolved by March. If this hadn't been resolved by March of this year, I would have resigned, but fortunately, it wasn't a terrible thing. This is just my situation, and it is up to you whether you allow me to perform this role again. This year too, I promise to do what I have been doing. This year I've continued in my workflows from previous years: cross-wiki and anti-UPE investigations, some SRG, handling requests from Discord/IRC, participating in meetings with the WMF and other-wiki functionaries, and giving feedback on new tools. I've also worked to improve understanding of steward work (and how people become stewards, we need more!) at in-person events, having attended a few in the past year.

I am available on Discord, IRC (though I check this less than Discord), email, and via my talk page. I hope to continue to serve the community as a steward, and am available if you have questions. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 21:46, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: Hello everyone. This has been a busy year for me. I moved jobs in June, and my firstborn was born in May. I've thought about it a lot, and after many years helping out on various wikis, first as a user, then as an admin, and finally with global rights, I've decided not to run for reappointment this year because I can't guarantee I'll have enough time to continue contributing as I should. I thank everyone for the trust they've placed in me over the years, and I hope that in the future I'll have the time and energy to return to serving as a user and steward.

  • Personal info: Hello! this is my first confirmation and thus entering my 2nd year as a steward. Over the first half of last year, I mainly focused on getting comfortable with the steward tools, handling OS, SRG, and SRCU requests, and dealing with general proxy unblock requests. In the second half of the year, my activities shifted more toward behind-the-scenes tasks, like closer collaboration with WMF staff and working with other functionaries across different languages. Overall, I believe I had a solid start and would be happy to continue for another year if the community wishes. I do expect my activity to be somewhat lower than last year, but still enough to make a meaningful difference. -- XXBlackburnXx (talk) 18:40, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: Hello. I'm seeking confirmation for my 4th term. I am very active in VRT as the primary ticket wrangler, focusing on triage and first-contact resolutions. I have also taken over the coordination for the steward clerks. I plan to continue to focus on these areas and SRGP processing. I am active most days onwiki and by email. Thank you for your consideration. — xaosflux Talk 14:33, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: Hello everyone! This is my second confirmation as a steward. As in previous years, I have remained consistently active in handling SRG requests, investigating and blocking/locking LTAs, supporting small wikis with anti-vandalism efforts, and occasionally responding to emergency IRC/Discord requests.

My overall on-wiki activity has decreased due to increased involvement in the off-wiki side of the movement this year. I even reached nearly 1k school students through outreach work just a few hours before writing this confirmation. I expect to be more active in steward work in the coming year as my offline commitments become more manageable.

I look forward to continuing to serve the community for another term as a steward. I’m open to any questions you may have. ~ Yahya (talkcontribs) 21:06, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Personal info: Hello. This is my eighth confirmation. Over the past year, I have remained active as a steward, primarily handling requests on SRG, along with various other tasks as needed (approximately 3,223 steward actions in 2025). In addition, I regularly used my steward access for fighting cross-wiki abuse, including vandals, spammers, and long-term abuse (LTAs). I have been active on SRG and Global AbuseFilter, and I also followed up on a number of SRUC complicated request. Throughout the year, I cooperated with local CUs and sysops to resolve cross-wiki issues (including, but is not limited to, Special:permalink/28975148 and Special:permalink/30002479).

Generally (CentralAuth), I'm a bureaucrat, sysop and checkuser on Arabic Wikipedia, and sysop on multiple projects, particularly Wikidata, Commons, and Meta (Home projects avoided). Over the years, I have made more than 609,000 edits across Wikimedia projects.

I would be happy to continue serving for another term. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, I would be glad to hear them. Thank you --Alaa :)..! 16:40, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
