Hello, my name is Jon and I am an administrator on Wikimedia Commons, an account creator on the English Wikipedia and an OTRS agent. My work focuses on anti-spam and anti-vandalism and I am mostly active on IRC networks under the nick “kolbert”.
As a member of the English Wikipedia Account Creation Team, I help users who are caught up in rangeblocks create accounts and participate in Wikimedia projects. As a considerable portion of requests are global blocks, we rely on the work of stewards to filter requests and prevent LTAs from getting through this process. There is a large backlog of requests and only a few stewards active on the team (list of users).
I have also worked in collaboration with other Wikimedians to combat cross-wiki LTAs through edit filters and other monitoring to help identify and address specific types of vandalism and spam.
