Tajik Wikimedians Celebrate Wikipedia’s 25th Anniversary in Dushanbe

As part of the Wiki25 anniversary celebrations, the Tajik Wikimedians User Group organized a community gathering in Dushanbe to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia and the 22nd anniversary of Tajik Wikipedia.
The event took place at Technohub Dushanbe and brought together active contributors, experienced Wikipedians, new Wikipedians, and representatives of academic institutions . The meeting opened with welcoming speech of Zinhor Nasri, followed by reflections from veteran contributors. Shohrat Sa’diev, one of the long-standing administrators of Tajik Wikipedia, shared insights from the early years of the project and its development.
Saidjalol Husayni, Editor-in-Chief of the Scientific Editorial Office of the National Encyclopedia of Tajikistan, emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between academic encyclopedists and the Wikimedia community. He announced plans to organize a high-level academic event in March, inviting active contributors to prepare ideas and proposals for the further development of Tajik Wikipedia.
Dustomurod Said highlighted the growing institutional support for Wikimedia initiatives and stressed that collaboration between academic institutions and volunteer communities plays a key role in presenting reliable knowledge online. The discussion also addressed concerns around artificial intelligence, underlining that human editorial responsibility and community engagement remain central to the sustainability of free knowledge projects.
A notable part of the program was the presentation of results from the Wiki25 edit-a-thon. Zolfeqar Fatihzadeh summarized the outcomes of the marathon and presented symbolic prizes to the winners.
To conclude the main community gathering, an overview of the Tajik Wikimedians User Group’s activities in 2025 was presented, outlining completed initiatives and plans for the year ahead. The celebration concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to active contributors, followed by informal discussions, reflecting the community’s strong sense of collaboration and a new stage of professional growth for Tajik Wikipedia.
