Talk:2021 Palestine-Wales Editathon

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Robin: Hello Robin, hope you're well, you asked me about an important school and university or festivals in Palestine, after making research I found this:

  1. we have a en:List of universities and colleges in the State of Palestine in both Arabic and English languages.
  2. about festivals: we just have Arabic articles and it's not in English.
  3. may we can add articles about famous libraries instead.

what do you think?

Brilliant editathon![edit]

Just a word to thank you all for this project! Great stuff! Yes, please, a list of educational establishments would be good. Cell Danwydd (talk) 12:50, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cell Danwydd: Oh Thank you very much for your kind words, this program is a great idea from Amazing Robin, thank you so much for your interest and participation with us, we are so proud of you all!

I will add a list of educational establishments as much as I can.

Good Luck :) براء (talk) 15:59, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So many articles without photographs![edit]

@Llywelyn2000 and براء: Why are there no photographs of the destruction caused to places like Umm al-Nasr Mosque??? Can we start a new project in supplying cameras to Palestinian editors to record their culture etc? Sian EJ (talk) 08:11, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Even a mosque such as المسجد الحنبلي‎ have no images from the outside. John Jones (talk) 14:16, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Sian EJ and John Jones:, Thank you both for your interest and give us a suggested solution. In fact, The problem is not the availability of equipment such as cameras or sth else, but rather the difficulty of movement due to the occupation and checkpoints, and moving between Palestinian cities itself such as the West Bank and Gaza (almost impossible), But sometimes may we found an editor in those cities and we hope they will be able to provide us a picture we want.براء (talk) 14:58, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So good to hear from you براء; I agree that there are very few images, and if there's anything we can do to help - let us know! Photos of students, places, people cooking food, dancing traditional songs... A picture paints a thousand words! Great wikiproject - and thanks again! Please change flag - طلب صغير لمحررينا العرب![edit]

Hi everyone! Really glad to see the editathon going well! So much stuff in all 3 languages!

Just a note to our Arabic editors, and a request. The flag for Wales (which is recognised as a country by all - including Prime Ministers of England / UK and other states - is:

and the flag of Cornwall is:

Many Arabic infoboxes have the wrong flag eg this one, which has an union jack, representing England / uk. If this could be changed, please, it would keep our editors happy! Many thanks!

PS You will see that on both Welsh and Cornish articles, we have the Palestinian flag only eg this one

Many thanks! شكرا جزيلا لمحررينا العرب!

Llywelyn2000 (talk) 10:04, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the flag of Wales is the Red Dragon. Using an Union Jack is an insult. Wales is not England. Thanks! Cell Danwydd (talk) 16:57, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
