Mergist invasion[edit]

Merge and redirect to Association of Mergist Wikipedians. 150.203.33.231 10:56, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, the mergists are at best sometimes a subsect of the redirectionalists. Merging requires redirection of the old article. Whereas, you can support creating new articles purely for redirectional purposes and not support merging at all. So this article should MergeFrom and not MergeTo the Mergists. Although actually, not all mergists are redirectionists, there are merge deletionists as well. Tyciol Tyciol 22:18, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In keeping with the motto of this association, "Redirects are the best", this article has been redirected to Association of Mergist Wikipedians. --Xyzzyplugh 06:57, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects are best, merges are not necessarily the best! Redirectors are not necessarily mergists, oh worthy Zyzzyplugh... --Jeffmcneill 20:15, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! They can't win! Merging is fine, but if the mergists wish to pursue their vendetta, they must sacrifice themselves to be swallowed into us. We MergeFrom them, and they MergeTo us. I will post this on their pages! Tyciol 19:21, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Basic philosophy[edit]

Anyone want to add the basic philosphy of the Redirectionist--24.17.252.218 12:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don't understand the philosophy at all. All it says is that "redirect are the best."  C Teng [talk] 20:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Open Call: Help Wanted – I'd be happy to get this association on the road, but I will need to know I am not alone in this. Sadly, some key figures are no longer around. The founder, Kinneyboy90, left Wikipedia back in 2007 out of frustration (I, too, remember that time as unpleasantly smothering), and Tyciol who defended this group (see above) has been blocked indefinitely since August 2009 over superheated redirect disputes. Redirects are the best, and I do see good use in a group that support these invisible but essential helpers in identifying and retrieving the right information. Together with one or more persons, I would like to define a philosophy, scope and plan of action to make the ARW a constructively contributing group. Please respond on my ENWP talk page. Thanks! -- en:User:Eddyspeeder / 84.80.134.165 00:09, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just came from editing a wiki on wikia where an admin deleted every single redirect on the entire wiki, leaving a massive amount of red links in his wake. I was flabbergasted! I just wanted to vent about this to someone who might sympathize. Cheers Tollerach (talk) 01:56, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Modification in the page[edit]

Hi greetings, I added some goals and arguments about redirects in page. There is a lack of philosophy and quotations about association's topic. So I did a humble thing. Feel free to add more. Creating a Wikimedian philosophy about Redirectionism is better.--Path slopu (talk) 15:09, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I created a page for philosophy-Redirectionism--Path slopu (talk) 16:53, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The logo created by Bruce The Deus is taken as our logo because it shows the importance and vision of redirects and Redirectionism.--Path slopu (talk) 06:13, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
