Talk:Community Engagement Insights/2018 Report/Technical Collaboration

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

While this is very interesting, I find it hard to draw conclusions from as it uses a very broad definition of developer that involves many fairly separate communities. If only 4% of anyone who has ever written software that interacted with the mediawiki api or filed a bug report is aware of the CoC, I'm not sure I find that super shocking. It would be sort of similar to how I've made a couple edits to (en) Wikipedia over the years, but I'm not that familiar with their dispute resolution system. On the other hand, if only 4% of people who have made a commit to mediawiki core or a Wikimedia deployed extension are aware of CoC, I would be quite shocked by that. Anyways, I think these results would be more insightful if they were separated out into groups based on what type of involvement people have in technical spaces.
