Follow-up question on your application

[edit]

Hello @Akhilan,

Hope you are well. I am the programme officer supporting the review process for rapid projects in this cycle. Thank you for the care and thought you put into the application. Based on my initial read, I am sharing a follow-up question that we'll like to have more clarity on.

1) Re your response to question 8, could you provide more details on whether you and your team might have any relevant experience in participating in a similar project/ role. This is so that we are able to understand whether you have a team that would be able to support you through the project implementation period. For the subject expert, do you have a shortlist of people you have in mind and plan to approach for your project?

2) Re your response to learning questions, they will be very useful for peer learning. Please take a moment to document these in your final report and also look to share them in a Diff blog. https://diff.wikimedia.org/

3) Similar to a recommendation for this application - Talk:Community Resources and Partnerships/India Rapid Project/Wikimedians of Kerala UG Feb-March 2025 Strategic Activity Plan, the User Group can consider consolidating all activities in an annual plan and apply for a General Support Fund.

4) Re your response to question 20, we observed that you need more support in using of tools for project planning and content contribution. Here are additional resources that may be useful:

Would you be able to start exploring setting up the relevant tools for your campaign and share the links when ready? If you need more support, please reach out.

Thank you for taking a moment to respond. There may be further questions from the South Asia Regional Funds Committee as your project moves through the review process.

Hi Jacqueline, Regarding your follow up questions,
1) I have already reached out to some resource persons associated with Padayani and various Padayani organizing groups. With their help, I have documented the Padayani calendar[1] and highlighted the significance of each Padayani event in different regions[2].
Additionally, we have connected with Gisny George[3], the founder of Dharinni, who works on preserving cultural heritage specific to local areas. Tony Antony, who has experience working on the Manimala River Valley Heritage Project[4], is also part of our network. Their expertise and insights will be invaluable in supporting the project throughout the implementation period.
We are already in discussions with groups that share a similar interest in Padayani to collaborate and share photos and videos in their possession, which we plan to release under an open license. Additionally, we have initiated a WhatsApp group where preliminary discussions are actively taking place. We have also collected books authored by Kadammanitta Vasudevan Pillai, such as Padayaniyile Pala Kolangal, Padayani, Padayaniyude Jeevathalam, and Padayani: Janakeya Anushtaana Nadakam, along with several research papers[5] related to the topic. This has helped us begin our research and strengthen the foundation for the project."
We are also planning a visit to the Padayani Museum in Kadammanitta[6] to document the information and artifacts preserved there. This will further enrich our understanding and provide valuable insights to enhance our research and documentation efforts. Combining this with the ongoing discussions and collected resources, we aim to create a comprehensive and well-rounded project on Padayani.

2) Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely take the time to document these in my final report and ensure they are well-detailed for peer learning. I’ll also explore the opportunity to share them on the Diff blog to reach a wider audience.
3) Thank you for the recommendation! Consolidating all activities into an annual plan and applying for a General Support Fund is an excellent suggestion. I will discuss this with others in the User Group and get back to you with updates after our discussions.
4) Thank you for sharing these resources! I’ll start exploring the recommended tools and frameworks to set up the relevant ones for our campaign. Once they are ready, I will share the links for review and feedback. If I need additional support or guidance during the process, I’ll be sure to reach out. Appreciate your assistance!

Your application has been approved

[edit]

Hello @Akhilan,

Congratulations! Your application has been approved in the amount of INR 226,470 from 10 February 2025 to 31 May 2025. Please know that the approval is contingent on your response to the follow-up questions. During the pre-screening process, the finance team from your appointed service provider also captured the following comments:

* Fixed service provider fee of 15% is calculation is incorrect. Actual 15% mentioned in cell H17 Once 15% is fixed the Budgeted amount will come to $2616.94 (previously $2,677.28) diff $60.17

Please adjust your proposed budget accordingly. You can do that by adding a new tab to your existing working document and name it revised - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_WHeXqT7QeD4vtgluo6t8v6h5If_KFzubTPteJ5YjS4/edit?usp=sharing Any excess can be allocated to your miscellaneous expenses.

Disbursement of Funds

To facilitate the funds disbursement process, we seek your active response to communications from your appointed service provider (e.g. CIS - finance@cis-india.org) to complete your contract, payment, and onboarding. We highly encourage you to submit all supporting documents and endorse the related paperwork within the stipulated time frame. When in doubt, proactively reach out to the CIS finance team and copy your programme officer.

Plans are adaptable

We know even the best thought through plans may change.

In the event that there are changes to your implementation schedule, you can reach out to request for a project extension (i.e. extend end date). Similarly, if there is a surplus budget or changes to your planned budget, you can reach out to me about reallocation (via email and on this talkpage).

Additional resources which may be useful

  • The reporting requirements and templates for your project can be found here. All reports are to be completed and submitted via Fluxx.
  • Final reports are due one month after the project end date

We thank you for your participation in the project application process and hope to continue to journey with you as you embark on this project. Good luck!

Regards,
