While reviewing this with the team, we were unsure about some important details to understand the feasibility of the wish:

Also, the "Tools" menu on the right hand side of the screen. That menu is taking up space on the page with a bunch of things I will never use.

Could you provide a screenshot to ensure we're on the same page? The "Tools" menu isn't shown by default to anonymous users. It's hidden in the the horizontal toolbar.
