Thanks for your suggestion and for sharing the example from SearchDigest.

After looking into similar proposals in the past, we’ve found that search query data—especially failed queries—raises complex privacy concerns, even when aggregated. On large wikis like English Wikipedia, most human queries navigate directly to a page, and the high-frequency queries in the remainder tend come from bots and tools; failed organic user queries are largely low-frequency, and often include sensitive or inappropriate content.

We understand the value such a tool can provide in theory, and we remain open to exploring safe ways to support similar use cases in the future. ARamadan-WMF (talk) 14:06, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
