- This is about combining the input field of mw:Citoid (see mw:Help:VisualEditor/User guide/Citations-Full#Automatic) with VE's re-use search option (mw:Help:VisualEditor/User guide/Citations-Full#Re-use an existing reference). phab:T126488 describes the user journey: Enter a URL and instead of just creating a new reference, check if there already is a reference with the same URL and create a re-use if there is one. phab:T198456 already improved a similar use case. - Maybe most wishes with the Citations tag belong in either of these two focus areas... Prototyperspective (talk) 20:04, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- I would vote to somehow merge the focus areas since Citoid improvements only has 3 wishes and reference management has 9... Maybe we can generalize the description of the latter to be more inclusive if needed?
