Thanks @JopkeB - could you help me better understand what problem is relating to CatDiffuse? What does the feature do, and what are you trying to solve? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 18:53, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

The problem is that there are too many categories in Category:Categories requiring temporary diffusion that have an acceptable number (200 or less) of subcategories and files and so should not be in there. This may be caused by editors who forget to remove the template:CatDiffuse (or a similar one) in a category that once was too large and now has an acceptable number of files.

The solution I propose is to remove this template and similar ones, and replace it by the template Diffusion by condition that has a built-in minimum number of 200. I propose to do it by a bot because there are too many of them to do it manually. When this replacement has been done, there will hardly be any categories left in Category:Categories requiring temporary diffusion that do not belong there. Editors can than better forus on the categories that do need maintenance. JopkeB (talk) 03:48, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
