[edit]Hey @Polygnotus thanks for sharing this wish. I can see how standardizing filtering by namespace (and other attributes) on all Special: pages would bring consistency to the UX and help people with maintenance tasks.
I'm curious if there are a few other examples of common maintenance tasks where namespace filtering might help? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 16:37, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- @JWheeler-WMF: The principle of least astonishment is very important in UX design. I hope that a more consistent UX can help people feel less overwhelmed.
- Other examples that come to mind are fixing broken redirects and double redirects (redirects to redirects).
- The search page (Special:Search) already has a namespace filter.
- Of course this wiki, meta, is a bit unconventional in the sense that there are no articles.
- On the English version of Wikipedia (and probably on most large language versions of Wikipedia) there are bots who deal with double redirect (e.g. w:Wikipedia:Double_redirects#Double_redirects_and_bots). But small wikis don't have the luxury that all tasks that can be automated are automated.
- If you prefer you could broaden the scope a bit, SpecialPages do not really get the love they deserve.

- @Polygnotus thanks for the additional context. I agree a more consistent UX could help people feel less overwhelmed. Wondering if we should re-write this wish to suggest that Special:Pages share common elements, including filtering by namespace, vs the specific feature... - @JWheeler-WMF: This is what I believe to be the major advantage of the focus areas concept: the people working on a project can narrow and widen the scope at will. Of course they can do that anyway, but no one can complain that they did not deliver what was asked when the objective is an area instead of a specific point. Personally I often set tasks like "work x hours on this task" instead of "finish this task" because it helps me deal with unknown unknowns. Following the MoSCoW method I'd say that widening the scope would be a "Could have". Polygnotus (talk) 16:35, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

- There might be some overlap of this wish with Community Wishlist/Wishes/向日志选项中加入命名空间筛选 —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 14:30, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Korean translated version showing up in the Wishes table
[edit]@Cookai1205: the same problem as with the /bn page that you recently fixed exists here: the page showing up in the /Wishes table is the /ko one, not the /en or original one. Could you please fix that too? Prototyperspective (talk) 11:50, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Done. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 13:47, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
